need big time help

i have a 1998 gst eclipse but i need a new motor and turbo with it. when i bought the car it ran good for about 2 monthes then i started smoking out the exhaust like john wayne! so i tried to go the cheap way and get it fixed but that backfired on me and now the car runs but everytime i try to pick up speed my battery light and brake light come on but the good thing is the smoke stopped comin out and another problem is it a convertible so everytime is rain i feel like i was swimmimg inside the car! so right now i have it covered with a car cover and am waiting till i could get a new engine and turbo to put in it and the convertible is getting fixed when i find the engine with turno it is a 4g63 t engine so if someone can please help me it would be a great help!

Look for a new motor on a DSM forum, or a junkyard...

I recall hearing about this somewhere else. If I remember correctly, the battery light issue was solved by testing/replacing the alternator if it is not up to par. I'm not sure about the brake light. First thing I'd recommend is checking the fluid level.

thank you all,and sorry about the run on sentence! i been checking junkyard like crazy and no luck all they have is 2.0 non turbo, and i do think the alternator is bad cause my car hesitates when i start it.i just might go with lionfire said she get a rebuild engine?

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market to search local junkyards. Also www.jacktransmissions.com will rebuild your engine, they are really good guys. I'm not sure if www.maperformance.com builds engines anymore I think they do. You'll have to call around.

The brake light/battery light is electrical... period. Check your battery connections and then your alternator. Chances are either you have a loose connection on the alternator or its simply not generating enough amps to keep the car charging correctly.

Does the car crank over real slow? Could be the battery is almost dead from the bad alt. Do your lights dim at all (not flicker, but dim) when you get on it?

YEA THE CAR HAS TROUBLE EVERYTIME I TRY TO START IT AND WHEN I AM DRICING THE LIGHT ARE VERY DIM AND AFTER AWHILE MY HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. AND WHEN IT IS ON IDLES IT SMOKES VERY MUCH

What color is the smoke? If it's white it could just be as easy as a head gasket replacement. If it's blue it's oil burning and you've got piston ring problems most likely and that'll require a rebuild (obviously).

it is white but it only smokes when idel not drive.

Compression test and test the head gasket. If all it is, is the head gasket and an alternator problem those aren't tough fixes.
