The video on the P&S makes sense because both the still and the video are, at least what i'd consider, sub par. meaning that both are meant for those quick shots that you want while you're out with your friends at the bar or on your way into or from work. a DSLR is meant to be a tool not a toy. although yes, I do call mine a toy.

but they are meant to take a photo and to be creative. the video from a DSLR is going to suck just as bad as from a P&S camera so the people that buy a $1K+ DSLR want it to make PHOTOS. if they wanted to make a video they'd buy a $500+ video camera or just buy a cheap P&S to bring with them in their pocket.
