Well, it's been a while since I've updated this.

As some of you may recall, my car was victim of a hit and run a while back:

Well, I saved quite a few dollars to fix and what else... upgrade, all at once.

That started with a new OEM fender. The logical thing to me was, while that's getting replaced and re-painted, I might as well re-paint the whole front half of the car while Im at it.

That led to me deciding that logically, while I'm repainting the entire front end of the car, I might as well have them shave the bumper holes and Mitsu logo at the same time. This in turn led me decide that since I'm doing all this work, I might as well protect my well spent money, by having a custom cut clear bra installed.

So as it stands at this point in the project, I've turned a $600 repair, into a $1900 upgrade. But wait, we're only half way done.

After I get the car back from paint, I discover that the paint has to cure for approx 30 days before the clear bra can be installed. This leads to me garaging my car for a whole month. Well, while it's sitting in the garage, I decide, I might as well get to work on the interior as well. Which leads to....

I figure if I cant drive my car for a month, I might as well take out the entire interior, and have the body shop color match my interior as well. So now this $1900 project has increased to $2500.

But wait... we're not done yet.

I figure that while I have the interior gutted, I might as well upgrade the sound and wiring while its all easily accessible. One thing I've always wanted to do, was eliminate the need for me to carry all my CD's in a book in my car. If my car were to be broken into, I would lose 15 years worth of CD's in one swipe. So I decided to rip my entire music collection to iTunes, and throw it on an 80gb iPod. Luckily, my job is a licensed reseller for Apple, so I was able to get an 80gb ipod classic with video at cost. That pushes the total from $2,500 to $2,719.

Well, now I need a media receiver to play the iPod. If Im doing all this work, Im not going to skimp here with some crappy RF adapter. The solution? Replace my HU with Alpine's newer ida-X100 media receiver. But if I have the interior gutted, and Im upgrading the HU, I need new speakers to get the best sound quality. That means a new set of Alpine 6.5" Type-R Component Door Speakers and Type-R 6x9 Rear Component Speakers.

So now, my $2,719 project, has increased to $3,357

So, here are a few quick snaps of the end result, until I have the time to get better quality pics taken.

Repainted from doors forward, shaved license plate holes and Mitsu Badge, and clear bra installed.

The end result of the interior work.

The new Alpine IDA-X100 Digital Media Receiver

The iPod install and bass control installed into the center console.

So in the end, my hit and run cost me $3,357 dollars.

I'll get some better quality pics up soon.
