AEM air filter cover....?
I dont know where this should be but i thought this was the best
Awhile back i saw on someones car here a air filter cover for an after market CAI. it was black and only covered the bottom half portion of the coned air filter. cant find the car that had it or where to buy it online Looking into getting the V2 but living in Rochester NY sucks because of winter and the rain. (rained all last week and half) id rather not have my car water locked and would really like to get the V2 rather than the standard AEM CAI, granted there is the bypass valve. i like the sound the V2 has. thanks |

Injen makes them, or you can get some cheap-o's on ebay. They are universal.

That looks to me like that would decrease airflow thereby decreasing horsepower. I would save your money for something else.

yeah, i think its just liked weaved so there are holes in it
the heat shield is what im gearing towards more, if i get the V2 i can just put it towards the bottom of it so no water gets in it |

Get an AEM with a bypass valve, then you won't have to worry about sucking water into your engine. Plus you get better throttle response.

Remove OEM air filter and cover.
Install aftermarket cone filter. Install aftermarket cover over filter. End results - you just spent money to make a complete circle back to where you started. Doesn't make sense to me - at all. |

I was thinking the same thing. Waste of money, only useful for people who like to only show their car.

Because no matter what intake you get, on the most basic level it's just a pipe. The bypass valve is a cylindrical filter which will open up first where a filter would sit if you had a SRI. But the bulk of the air will still come from the primary filter located behind your bumper cover. For maximum benefit, be sure to cut out your fake vents and use a grille craft fake vent kit to retain a clean look.
This picture shows an AEM CAI with a bypass filter.

I have the setup you are looking for. I have a aem cold air intake, bypass valve, and black heat shield. Cutting the fake vents out really isn't going to make a big difference in performance so I would leave them alone. If you go with a cold air intake, it would be best to invest in the bypass valve to keep water out your engine. I use the shield to help keep the cone filter dry, it just let's me feel better knowing the water has to go around the shield, up the pipe, and through the bypass valve before it gets to my motor. If the water goes through all of that then I was somewhere I didn't need to be.
