Muffler Question
When i first got my gts, i couldn't figure out what exhaust i wanted, so i just had the muffler shop cut off my stock muffler and put on a big ass tip, liked it at first but not so much now. I'm lookin at gettin an Apex n1 muffler, but the guy at the muffler shop said most universal mufflers are too big and there wont be enough room to connect the pipes. Does anyone know if the n1 will fit in there or not??? any help would be awesome

Look into the Tsudo Exhausts on E-bay. Very good quality, as good as Invidia, Stainless, Mandrel bent, Sound great. Plus they are $250 shipped. I have a 3" Tsudo on my car and love it.

If you get into further exhaust mods like adding headers or a downpipe, or putting in a test pipe, then the story changes. At that point some exhausts become raspy, and others just get deeper and louder (caused both by the diameter of piping and the presence or lack of resonators...as well as other factors). If you're planning to keep away from FI (on a GTS, without new pistons, it's probably a good idea to stay away from turbo/SDS), and aren't planning headers, I'd suggest a smaller diameter exhaust - i.e. Magnaflow or Borla (I think both are 2.25"). If you'd like to get headers eventually, Tsudo (3"), Invidia (2.75"), and Greddy (2.75"...I think?) are probably better choices. You can use a larger diameter exhaust without headers or FI, but you'll probably notice a small loss in low end torque, which is why I suggest Magnaflow or Borla in that case. Here is the 3" Fireball from a GST on my car. Only problem with the Tsudo, and this is what causes most people not to buy them, is that they bolt up to the Fed Spec downpipe. The cali-spec cars will have to have the exhaust shortened by about 3". I have AMSS headers no and I get a little bit of rasp up top but its due to the headers not the cat back. When I had Fed-Spec manifolds on the car, it was perfectly smooth with absolutly no rasp, and very very deep.

Umm. No the Apexi and Tsudo N1s sound extreamly deep and smooth. Everyone needs to quit pushing the damn Invidia so hard. It is a nice exhaust but it isnt the end all be all of exhausts. There are many other options.

Oh, and IIRC, "N1" is the Apexi style of exhaust - most of the exhausts that we're talking about are all N1 exhausts - Apexi, Tsudo, Invidia...even Greddy I believe could all be generically labeled "N1 exhausts." So if the "N1 sounds ricey," then all of the above sound ricey. Honestly, all of the above sound fine. Last edited by mozart4898; 04/11/2006 at 12:45 AM. |

I just bought the Apexi N1 Turbo muffler, had it installed with a custom 3'' cat back exhaust... i say custom (that means they bent the tubing).
It sounds really good, haha you will love hearing all the import guys say DAMN MAN 5'' outlet ?! It really sounds amazing when you spray! |
