The 4G will be a heavy pig. Thow in a heavy ass stereo, and a 200 lbs driver, and you've got yourself a 2 ton car! Got SUV anyone?

obviously Mitsu is cutting cost by sharing a platform between two vehicles yet using completely different materials to manufacture each one

Platform sharing does not mean they are the exact same! The 4G is shorter then the Galant. The Galant is fwd and the Endeavor is awd but share the same basic platform. The D/C cars share the same platform as the 3G but two are coupes and one a hatch back. Platform sharing uses as many of the same parts that is reasonable. Batteries, shocks, airbags, springs, engines, nuts and bolts and so on. You don't have to believe me, the NAAS will be here soon enough. I'm just passing on what I know.

Not to mention the chassis will be the same with only modifications for lengthening or shortening the wheelbase depending on application. And that's the point we're trying to make here when we say that the 4G will be rather heavy.

Wait, isn't this the same kid that was deriding the Corvette Z06 on .org as using "outdated" pushrod technology? And then further downplaying its performance by saying it uses truck-like leaf springs when in reality the car has 4-wheel independent suspension with one transverse leaf spring? All this despite running 12-second 1320s stock and pulling 1G on the skidpad?

Dude, I've seen the 4G, I've sat in it, kicked the tires, peered underneath it, etc. I've talked to the designers, discussed the 4G and 5G with them. You are wrong--the car is going to be heavy.

It seems that this is all very wishful thinking, but man I hope you're right. 60 hp increase and a loss of weight, cool, but doubtful.

I talked to the manager today and he said he'd get a spec sheet to look at. He still says that the car weighs less than a 3G, GTS v-6, 5sp (3245 Edmunds?) He said that the engine, 6sp,and rear susp. all lost weight. They used .7 thick sheetmetal on it rather than the 3G which is .9! (Other companies do this to and we leave out crash bars on europeon cars to) The Galant only uses some .7. They shaved off about 200 pounds! He said it will have 235 HP because it is tuned for TQ! It's like the Galant VVT engine but, intake, ex. and chipped different! They designed it with 300HP tuned engine and duals but they don't know how reliable it is. A 260HP tuned engine is in the ralliart proto. Galant and Endeavor. But someday that engine will be in our cars. So when I see the spec sheet I will let you know.

How is the engine only making 235HP? Lame... Hell, a VQ35DE can make 250 HP easily, and it is scrapping the 300HP barrier right now. A 3.8L making only 235HP? That's just like the Galant.

BMW : who are you?
It's tuned for TQ not HP!(It's the first of the line of engines, they will get stronger in the future) It's TQ and HP also peak at about 1000rpm lower than a 3.5. They could boost HP to like 260 but like most engines it's in higher rpm's that no one uses! Plus the more HP you squeeze out of a smaller engine the more problems you have!

I'm going to have to say "baloney" to all that, BMW. I don't know, maybe what you're hearing is valid--I don't know you so I can't say for sure.

All I can say is that everything you just said contradicts just about everything I've personally heard from the guys at MRDA.

The release date is July 2005. Mitsu. asked the gov. if they could sell it early but they refused.

Never. We will eventually melt these cars for materials to build EVO XXVIII or whatever the EVO generation is 50 years from now.

at first it doesnt seem logical the car could loose weight but it they significantly change the body panels and suspension, it could be done.

maybe they'll figure out how to make rims that weigh less than 26lbs and not dent from running over a twig.

so far the car looks great from sketches IMO. its totally different than anything else on the market. i am eager to see a SC and after market ecu plugged into a 3.8L for sure

That truck is sweet. I saw a mitsubishi truck at the auto show. I think it was that one but it was very very nice. It had some awesome ideas put into it.

I want final engine specs! I want tech sheets! I wanna see compatibility with other 6G7x-powered chassis As much as I'd love to gab on about how I'd love to have this car for this reason or that... it's really the powertrain I'm interested in, and of course looks come secondary.

This is just killing me. G35/TT/2G-features all in one... with an assumed heavier chassis "pushed to the next level"! Nevertheless, I'd still love to have one. And I can't wait to get to see more info and pics of my possible future baby...

Mitsubishi's official 4G site: here

If this thing looks good and weighs less than 3400 pounds, my 3G is going to "accidently" drive itself into a lake.
