Weird sound when going R to 1st in 4G GT
Anyone with a 4G notice the sound it makes when putting it in 1st gear after reversing? It sounds like a automatic door locking.. but I watched the locks and they don't move.

Reverse gear is on the opposite end of your transmission gear arrangement, if I remember correctly. You're probably hearing the sound of reverse disengaging/1st gear engaging via the synchronizer. |

nah, S... It's strange, it's like a creaking sound. Imagine what it sounds like when you scrape a curb. Sounds like that. I get it whenever I go, regardless of whether or not I switch from R.
It's quite audible from the cabin, not sure about from outside. |

No, S... it's not that, really. If I ever come up to Dallas this coming weekend, I'll let you listen to it. It's not exactly when you shift when this happens, it's when you're already rolling forward when this happens. I had Ross and Heather in the car yesterday when they told me it sounded like it came from the front passenger and rear passenger (where Heather was seated) as well. Apparently there could be truth to it being in the brakes, though I've never heard of such a thing before.
Like I said, I've gotten used to it already. And the ticking sound of the mechanical lifters and the wind noise: all of these alien to me from the 3G.

What's so hard about about believing the ABS the noise culprit?
It's entirely possible that's exactly what it is.

what's up with HK? i dont know much about him outside of the club4g forum.
i figured it was the brakes resetting since it's been doing that since day 1. it doesnt necessarily only happen when going from reverse -> 1st. try backing your car in when you park. next day pull out in 1st gear and your car will still make the noise even though you havent touched reverse at all. seems like it only happens after you first start-up your car and get moving. i'm sure there's something written in the manual about it but i didnt read the whole thing
