Recommend Me a Good Point & Click Camera

Well I am looking for a new camera for the girlfriend. She has a old Kodak that uses regular AA batteries and looks like a 1994 old film camera. So I want to get her something new, plus she wants a new one for Xmas.

I am looking for a camera, that has a rechargeable battery. So you don't have to buy batteries. It's is very easy to operate, stylish, has a larger LCD display to take and view pictures. It is not to big or bulky. Hopefully lower than $400 MSRP (I'm sure I can find it cheaper on the web or something). But I am open to all ideas.

Not sure what companies make good cameras now. So I figured I'd post and see what photo people say.

Thanks for all the help.

Get her the one that Magda and Candy has. I mean it takes awesome pictures plus you have many options for pictures. It is also light with a big LCD screen and its tough (candy had it for over 3 yrs now and that camera went through more shit than nay other one could)

Magda has DSC-W55 but you could go with 80 since it has more features.

DCRP Review: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80

Great deal, but I think he's look for a compact camera.

There are tons of compact cameras out there. You may want to start reading here:

Then shop around the internet or go to a local store and hold one in your hand

Ditto! They are great cameras and use cheap SD memory cards, have a rechargeable battery, small enough to fit in a purse.

Make sure you get one with a view finder. You can't rely on the screen, because in bright situations the screen is often difficult to look at.

I just got the Kodak M1033 camera for 160 dollars.

10 mega pixel and it takes HD video!

IIRC, most cameras that are point and shoot are about 3x to 5x optical and few have 10x I think. I'll keep it in mind.
