Need help picking out a hotshoe mic
I just got a canon t3i for my birthday and love it. I have a 50mm canon lens for it which is gorgeous. I just need to upgrade the mic.
Budget: <$200 For: I would like it to be able to take clear exhaust clips, drivebys, revving, anything that involves engine and exhaust noise I'd like it to do without clipping or crackling. Features: It would be nice to have a foam windscreen with it because I will be taking moving shots with it as well. The t3i has a mic input as well as a hotshoe which I believe is standard size. I figured a shotgun mic would best suit my needs but I need some help picking one out. Any suggestions? |

The one recommended by JermTheElf is good, but the positioning is the key with mics, so I guess you'll need to use it off the camera sometimes. You can also try an external recorder, like Zoom H1 (stereo mics built in) - price around $80.
