HOWTO: Install an After-Market RADIO, Without LOOSING your Factory Pre-AMP.
In case you ever wanted to add a After-Market radio (Pioneer, Rockford Fosgate, Alpine ect.) to your 3G....
WITHOUT THE HASSEL OF - Hacking you DIN cable apart to locate the speaker wires - Ripping out your Carpet to test wires. - Running All New Speaker Wires to Every Speaker in the Car. - Installing After Market AMPS to run your factory speakers - YOU DO NOT NEED a normal Aftermakerket Harness for this install. - This is a Custom Designed Cable from METRA made for the 00 - UP 3G Eclipses with INFINITY Pre-Amped Sound Systems HERES WHAT YOU DO... The first thing you have to do is get in touch with PARTS EXPRESS (PartsExpress.com) at 1-800-338-0531 or use the link below. When you call, tell the "HELPFULL" Sales Person that you want to order a "METRA 70-7003". The Cable will cost you around $20.00+ S&H, it is well worth it, trust me!!! Now this part will hook into the Factory DIN plug and wire Harness, IT IS ALL YOU NEED. **Here is the direct link to the 70-7003..... Metra 70-7003 MITSUBISHI AMP INTEGRATION HARNESS The 70-7003 wires into your factory wire harness and the RCAs from your new radio plug into the cable. It is not like the regular Wire Harness that you get for any other application. Here is a pic of the 70-7003. This is what you should have in your hand. ![]() There are 3 wires that you have to splice into the Factory Harness Red (12V), Orange (Igniton), Black (Ground). Then you have to plug your Front RCAs and Rear RCAs into the cable. The RCAs are what give you your sound instead of your normal harness where you have to wire the speaker wires into the harness. Finish by pluging the 70-7003 into the factory DIN and plug the factory Harness into the Radio Harness. When you power up the radio, you should hear sound from all your factory speakers even the center dash one above the display. You can remove the display if you want, but there is no need. The clock / Temp / Compass will still work!!! This install is very fast and easy, anyone with limited Car Audio knowledge can do it. The total install should take you about 10 - 15 min to do (+ or - depending on your level of knowledge). Very Fast!! Hope this Helps you out (sorry about no pics, I didn't think of it when I did the install)! Also, when you call Part Express, don't forget to ask them about the Mounting Kit for your new radio (they will give you a good deal!). If you have any questions... PM or Email me, I would be more than happy to help. |
