DVD/CD Players Compatible With Pioneer AppRadio?

I have a Pioneer AppRadio I Bought A year ago and Love it! The only con about it is it has no DVD/CD Drive. When I Bought it I was told that I could hook up a separate DVD/CD player (If you know what I mean?) But I went to best buy (Where I Bought It) And talked to another guy and he said It wouldn't work... I really want to be able to play CD's and Movies but to be honest I don't know what I'm getting in to? Any help/Opinions/Insight?
Here's some specs.

that's why i don't listen to sales people...

i looked through the manual and the installation guide, and i do not see any indication that it will accept any video/audio input. i see that it can have a backup camera, which would take care of getting video into the screen, but there is no way to get audio as well..

so you've just learned a $450 lesson in radio's....

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking, Backup camera would maybe work for video, but Like you said, I didn't see anything for audio. The only audio solution I found was using the Mic input, but the audio would have to be changed wouldn't it? Btw thanks for responding!

dedicated mic inputs are different then audio inputs in that mic's require the unit to send voltage to the mic to pick up the signal, where a audio input does not rely on any voltage signal from the unit. so i don't think it would work that way.

Is there an ipod interface available for it? You could hack that up to make a line-in I would think.

^ yes, in fact it is specifically engineered around using a i-device. but there is zero mention of video in the manual from any i-device.

backup cam could supply the video input, hack the ipod interface for audio.

I agree. I'm sure internally it could be hackified or maybe there's some better firmware/software for it that can be hackified into it...but otherwise it sounds like its pretty crappy.

i doubt there is a way to set it up to simply add a audio input to the backup cam.. if he's got all aftermarket amps, or is using the MITAH adapter, then i guess you could just feed the signal into the rca's via some y-adapters, but at the cost of hu audio control.

still not worth it IMO. if you want a deck that does all that, get a deck that does all of it.
no deck does what i want the way i want it, so i still hold to the opinion that all decks suck..

I actually have a video HU in my Eclipse.

I got one mainly because the large touchscreen makes it a ton easier to navigate my iPod music. I don't even have the parking brake line hooked up to anything - it's still zip-tied in the back.

I'm wondering why you bought the Navi unit? Every device on this planet has some sort of navigational functionality - why spend the cash?

The thing is, this doesn't have Nav built in, it runs off the iPhone. Look for devices like that, ones with it built in are way more expensive.

I almost bought the app radio but went with the Avic X930bt, definitely worth the money, you can find them online for around $600 or so on sale. Built in nav, pandora, netflix, you name it. A/V inputs, 3 I believe?

Should of bought that ^ Sounds like a good package! Do you like it?
But to tell you the truth, I'm not the biggest fan of the units with controls and stuff on them, I like the full touch screen

It's the best head unit I've ever owned, it's a full touch screen save for the track skip and mode buttons on the side, worth every penny I spent on it.
