Best shift points for a drag?
I have been curious when are the best shift points for our cars to post the best times at a drag strip.
I have heard 5850 but im talking about specific for each gear. Im sure someone has done testing and through charts to figure this out. I searched but i couldn't find much except for the balpark numbers. I always noticed that shifting at the redline didn't seem worth it so i stopped doing that. I usually shift around 5900 if i'm aiming for speed since that's what it feels like to me is best. |

I have been searching around a bit too for the sportronic and currently its a debate between leaving it in Auto or actually using the sportronic.. so say you use the sportronic... I have no idea what the shift points would be exactly but you can almost feel a slight drop in power right before redline so I'm just not sure

what I figured. I really wish I would have bought a standard but my dad convinced me to buy the auto with sport so I could focus more on driving and shit. But now I would love to have a manual tranny... I could drive one fine but you guys know parents.. well most of you are parents so ya, you understand I guess

I don't see how a parent would feel uncomfortable about driving a manual..

This is from more than a year ago. Why bother?

Well it wouldn't necessarily be ideal to stop pulling in a gear just because you reached your max hp. I would think that it would be ideal to bring it slightly past so you land back in the top section of your powerband in your next gear. I read up on this in another thread and the general consensus was "shift at redline" Simply because this would allow you to land in the "usable" portion of the powerband for each gear. Though I don't know if it's the best, it does make sense..

When I got those ricers tryin to show up a 3g sometimes, I just do it by sound. 1st gear off line i keep it 1-1.2k once the clutch grabs I push it full throttle to almost redline, then 2nd i stop a little before redline still listening to engine to determine when its pulling less and do 3rd by then the drag is done with normally cause i have them beat anyways and i dont go over 80 cause thats way 2 fast already.

. Just curious, what mods have you running that fast. The only thread you started shows you have an exedy stage 1 clutch so that would limit you I would think. ![]() Edit: Your profile shows this. That is pretty good, but yesterday I was in an argument with my buddy and he said how GTA5 is going to go "plantanium" when it hits the market. I almost pissed my pants laughing. He's Puerto Rican and has a hard time, but it was still funny as fuck. We told everyone at work he discovered a new element.

I wish my car could beat V8s. Maybe I should try removing my resignators as well?
