13.9 @ 102 Auto 4 Cylinder

I finally did it! I went down to the local track last night to try and beat my previous best time of 14.0 from last year. I finally squeaked out a 13.9 @ 102 mph. I managed a 2.1 60' on my regular old street tires also. I'm pretty sure I am the first auto 4 banger to hit 13's.
For those of you that do not know my car, I have an '03 Eclipse RS auto running an evo 8 16g turbo setup. Boost is set at 18 psi and I am still on the stock motor (block & head) along with a stock automatic transmission. Tuned by 2000rs-turbo.
Night started out great, my first pass of the night I ran a 14.2 @ 103 mph with an awful 2.38 60'. I was eager to race the new 5.0 stang that lined up next to me, needless to say he was a little bit faster. I was happy as 103 was the highest speed I've ever trapped but I wasn't satisfied with the time. I cooled the car off and aired down the front tires to about 25-26 psi. My next pass I hooked a bit better and pulled off a 14.0 @ 102.6 mph with a 2.22 60'. I knew 13's were very possible so I cooled the car off again and dropped pressure down to 23-24 psi and made another attempt. I had been launching on the stall building about 1-3 psi on the two passes. So on my third attempt I made sure to build about 3-4, maybe 5 psi for my launch and managed to cut a 2.11 60' and hit 13.9 @102 mph!
I had reached my goal so I decided I was done beating on the car for the night. The car launched amazingly tho, with my prothane inserts I did not experience any wheel hop once so ever. Unfortunately my laptop had died on the ride down so I have no logs of my runs. I was also running a rom with a little less timing up top then I normally do, but wasn't able to switch at the track. I threw in a couple gallons of 100 octane also to ensure there was no knock at all. Will mid 13's be next? I'm hoping so.
Oh, and this thread is pointless without proof, so here are some time slips

If you're keeping the auto, I'd really suggest either some work done to it or a bigger fluid cooler. Some more line pressure and less accumulator will do wonders for fluid temps and shift times. The faster it shifts, the less heat on the clutch packs. If you're running an external trans cooler be sure to get a temp switch plumbed in to turn on a fan to draw air past and/or get a manual switch inside so you can cool it down at idle between runs.

Thats a low 13.9 too!! 13.8 would have been the next run! Cant wait to do a few things we were talking about. Whats next, 12's with the auto??? Just have to wait and see.

Looks real legit. I have a how to thread up in the garage section specifically for addition of an external tranny cooler. Pretty simple install and it has helped me run lower temps when autocrossing and/or road racing. Check it out, link below:

HOW TO: Install a Tranny Cooler with Tranny Filter

I can definitely see the benefits of running an external trans cooler with something like road racing or autocross, but will it really do all that much drag racing? Yes the trans temps will climb during the run but it is over so quickly, so its not being consistently beaten on and continuously heated up. Some transmission work would be great tho, the stock transmission does shift slowly. However to my knowledge there are no aftermarket shift kits or anything of the sort for this platform? Not that I have seen anyways.

What kind of tires were you using? I struggled with traction on the track.
