Reprogram your Key Fob (PICS)

(AKA) Reprogram Keyless entry, for anyone who may search that.

This is a very simple procedure which will save your time and money from the dealership.

What you need:
1 Wire or Paper clip
Your remote.

Step 1:
Locate the data port (ODBII Connector). It's just to the right of the steering column. (behind the dash part that covers underneath the steering wheel (you do not have to remove it)

This is what it looks like along with everything around it:

Step 2:
Insert Keys and leave as they are. (I believe your door has to stay closed throughout the programming)

Step 3:
(Make sure that you have your wire/paper clip and remote(s) within arms reach before you get down there)
The Port is situated with the wider end (top) being toward the front of the car and the thinner end being toward the back. Jump pin 1 (top left) to pin 4 (via paper clip or wire) You can also ground 1 to the chassis if you prefer that.

When i made the initial connection i heard a very light clicking sound.

Step 4:
Leave whatever you used to jump the pins within them throughout the programming. Within 10 seconds of making connection, press the hazard switch 6 times. (that's 3 on and 3 off) After that the doors will lock, then unlock.

Step 5:
Take your remote and press the lock button 3 times in 10 seconds. The doors will lock and then unlock, confirming the reprogram.

Step 6:
Enjoy your new Keyless entry! Remove the wire/clip and the keys as well, your finished already!

NOTE:
-You can program up to 4 remotes on any single 3g.
-For multiple remotes, "Repeat step 5 within one minute. After completing each programming, the doors will lock and unlock once."
-I'm positive that all GS and up Eclipses have the ability to use a keyless entry, I think that RS can as well.
-There are two types of remotes that are made for the 3g, Denzo (00-02) and Omron (03-05). This can be checked by reading the back of the remote.
-Make sure that you continue from step to step quickly after you connect the pins.
-I drive a GS, but the car always honks its horn after 1 key press, followed by 2 blinker flashes.

jscottAT4 : who are you?
This is a word for word duplicate reply of mine to another post on the same subject. Just trying to share a solution I might have found, and get help with a new problem.

I had this problem yesterday, where I could not get into programming mode.

We all know there are HOW-TO's. We follow instructions; it doesn't work. There is no real guidance on where to look or what check.

I finally got my 01 GT into programmin mode today by using a thicker guage paper clip, and instead of jumping 1 to 4, I just grounded pin 1 to the metal bracket and it worked fine.

Make sure that
1) Door is closed,
2) Only insert key, dont turn to on or acc, and
3) Insert jumper... THAT order.

NOW, my problem is after I press the LOCK button 3 times, nothing happens. Assuming the remote is working correctly, is there anything I should check on my car? Fuzes are good. Any ideas?

Model is an OMRON G8D-523M-A. Car is a 2001 GT. Bought used, came with a OMRON G8D-525M-A that i couldnt program, and later determined was not compatible thorugh Remote Cross Reference
