Eventually your battery isn't going to 'recognize' charge anymore, and last a whopping 5 minutes.

Wow, must have found myself in a bad batch twice. my first compaq presario, as well as another hp. Always plugged in, and eventually the batteries were just no good.

After leaving my laptop plugged in almost all the time, my battery now holds EXACTLY 9 seconds of charge...I can make it from living room to my room in basement in time if I sprint.
It is pretty inconvenient when I am doing something and need to move though. |

As for your computer, just make sure it's ventilated well (don't have it sitting on the couch or bed all day). Having a ventilated laptop stand (especially one with powered fans) will really help. Heat kills lots of things in the laptop (hard drive, cpu, battery).
Leaving the battery in while the laptop is on 24/7 will cause the battery to lose charge capacity: (from wiki: Lithium-ion battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) "At a 100% charge level, a typical Li-ion laptop battery that is full most of the time at 25 degrees Celsius or 77 degrees Fahrenheit will irreversibly lose approximately 20% capacity per year. However, a battery stored inside a poorly ventilated laptop may be subject to a prolonged exposure to much higher temperatures than 25 °C, which will significantly shorten its life." |

Thanks all! I was wondering about my battery - so I went ahead and removed it. Yes, Sam did purchase me a coolpad or whatever they're called. It's on whenever my laptop is! And in most cases, my laptop is on my desk. Should I bring it to my bed, I shut it down before going to sleep!

ON or just plugged in? Leaving it on all the time will cause the psu to go bad, eventually.

The two things you've stated, especially this one, go against what everyone who owns a laptop experiences. You don't find it strange that everyone but you seems to have battery issues, except you?
What the hell are you scratching your head for about my statement. You must have a nuclear reactor powering your laptop. |
