Street Races vs Street Race
Ok well i was bord so ive been reading through all the threads in here. Ill start off by saying i dont approve of street racing. But lets face it there is a big differnce from doing a single race on a closed or dead street late at night when noone is around. Vs going to "street races" where theres hundreds off people crowding a street that people are racing on. Or racing on streets during the day/ streets with traffic on them. People have always street raced and always will. My dad tells me stories of when they would street racing back in his day. But back then it would be a single race late at night on a empty street, and not in a residential area. He said back then cops didnt care and would sometimes even stay and watch the race. Where now street racing is hundreds off people in there POS hondas drinking, doing drugs, and getting into fights which sometimes lead to shootings and stabbings. "Street racing" has not evolved in a good way. Which is mostly to blame on the fast & furious, because sense then any honda fag with a fart can and intake thinks there paul walker and can out run the cops.
As i said earlier I am not saying that any type of street racing is ok. I just wanna hear the "older" people on here stories of what street racing was "back in the day". |

From what I gathered for your post, you are for a single street race as long as it is in a private unpopulated strip. So in the case you were involved in one of these street races 1v1 a random civic you found on the streets. If a deer popped in the middle of the race and you dive your ride straight into a ditch and you knock yourself unconscious, do you think the teen driving the civic will stay at the scene and call an ambulance, or run from the accident and leave you?

V8 > 3G

Car forums are split across the internet on street racing. Generally car enthusiasts on forums centered around slow cars are against it, yet the street racing we witness in person is mostly performed by cars from such forums. Go to any muscle car board and there's a section for street racing. Factor in the maturity level associated with owning a vette compared to that of a 3G and it's easy to see why certain forums would actually condone street racing.
Everybody has different views about it and most people's idea of an actual street race probably differs. I really enjoy roll racing and back when my turbo gt was running I'd take on any challenger if the road ahead was clear. The feeling gained from blowing the doors off some rich boy in their new stang is hard to beat. |

Please do not kid yourself. As long as street racing has been around there has been bets, booze and fighting to go along with it. Haven't you seen Greese or American Graffiti!!!
I've really never seen Greese but I think they fight right?Anyone who has ever lived in Houston knows Rakin road or Hwy 6. 10 years ago or so I used to go out there every Friday and Saturday night. Hard copy (if you remember that show) did a thing about the Houston street race scene. There used to be hundreds of people out there. There are cars and match ups at street races that you will just never see at a drag strip. There used to be trailered cars that would come out there with no lights or plates etc. I even saw one getting pulled over one time with a truck and trailer following him. A teacher of mine invited a couple of us to go see a buddy of his that had an alcohol funny car make a test run down an under construction portion of what I think now is now the Sam Houston tollroad. A constable rolled up with no lights on while they engine was running and the body was lifted up. We were just asked to leave but that guy was in deep shit. Street racing is like drugs or getting laid. It is tons of fun when you are doing it but that shit can be dangerous. I have done all 3 more than a fair amount and thankfully I have out grow it come out unscathed. |

I used to race on a service road meant for Semis to cut through if the highway was busy or a short cut out in Pomona CA, freeway 60 and something. I don't remember exactly where anymore, this is back in the early 90s. Thousand of cars meat out there every Friday and Saturday. Cars lined up on both ides of this two lane road. Cops would come out, we all jump in our cars and take off. We meet at this gas station few miles down the road. We hang out, mingle with chicks, check each others stuff out and hour later,we go right back to it. We all meet around 8pm and this would go on until 4 or 5 am, sometimes later.
One night on our way to our spot, we saw like 30 flat bed tow trucks parked on the side of the road about 4 miles before our spot but we payed no attention because we were all young and stupid. Few hours in to our thing, they blocked us in, both sides of the road and we had no where to go. On one side was rail road tracks and the highway on the other. Some lowered accords tried to cross the tracks and got stuck but most of us stayed put. All the cops went vehicle to vehicle and issued citations and a color coded sticky pad was placed on the back window. Orange meant, this car will be towed. My car was one of them, I received 3 tickets that night, car towed, 3000 dollars in fines and court costs. That was the last time I got caught. Those days were fun and no one got hurt out there, ever, no shootings no stabbings. The good old days.

In my opinion cops stereo type cars, if your driving in a lowered civic with a fart can their gonna pull you over and fuck with you. But if your in a old school muscle car with open headers they could car less, proof my dad drives around in his 77 Nova without a hood, with slicks on the back and open straight pipe with a sticker from 98 and the cops dont care they give him complements and take pictures of it. The same applies to racing, imports=punk kids, muscle cars=cool, to cops.

I've had basically straight pipes on my T/A for 8 years (finally gotten to be too much and I'm putting on a Magnaflow), driven by many cops and never been pulled over for being too loud. Though to be fair I very rarely drove like an idiot. That's not to say I didn't have a couple of street races here and there in my youth. But I wasn't in the habit of weaving in traffic and doing a holeshot from every stoplight. |
