My friend says her X-type can beat my is300. I don't know much about the x-type but what do you guys think? I am thinking she doesn't have a chance. Mine is a 03 sportdesign i think her's is an 03 or 05 x-type.

As far as I know, IS300's run about the same numbers as stock GT's. Roughly 15 second 1/4 miles. I don't know much about the jag. Take it to a track and find out?

x type had 231 and awd if it has the 3.0 duratec. very stout motor, thats why noble uses it. what transmissions?

Call it slow all you want the 2jz has lot's of potential

Car is bone stock, only thing i have done to it is the fog light stand alone mod, painted the calipers black, with chrome lexus stickers on the calipers, aftermarket sony cd player, led parking lights, led rear plate lights. I've kept it real basic but im still debating on what to do next.

You went through the trouble of posting pics without providing information on the transmissions

I'm not going to argue against the IS300, my uncle has one he bought new. It's an 03 Graphite, or dark gray colored one. I'm not sure what they call all the colors. His is essentially stock and its manual. I wasn't overly impressed with the performance when I drove it to be honest. Very sharp looking cars though.

auto is300 vs auto jag 3.0, jag. it is better overall really, one of the best motors from ford i would say, the 3.5 that replaced it wasn't as reliable, and with awd it's better in bad weather. but for racing it would be close. the awd jag 3.0 doesnt come in manual if i remember correctly so manual is300 vs jag would be dead heat/is300 but not by much. as said before slow race between two slow cars. i mean damn they both runs 16's

I honestly don't know the transmission specs but it is auto with sport shift. Honestly i like the auto b/c it rides smooth and i've heard of guys on the Lexus forums saying the IS300 5 speed trans are weak.

My Celica has a 2ZZ, those are known to lay down over 500whp.
My Mazda has a FS-DE, those are known to lay down over 300whp.
My legs are almost the same as Usain Bolt, he's been know to run the 100m in 9.5 seconds.

the 2az-fe in my fiance's camry has been proven to 400hp
the 6g74 in my car has been proven for about 400hp as well.

you can make any motor do anything with enough $

the 3.0 duratec in the jag is used in noble's cars and makes 400hp

Well after 5-6 years it amazes me why it matters to you so much. I posted the thread simply b/c i do not know anything about the Jag x-type. for one if you have to argue your maturity that kinda says it all,especialy because how mature is it to be racing some chick just because she thinks her car is faster, yeah you have a 2jz its a great engine, when tt, but even the auto NA supras with the 2jz run high 16s and i would be willing to bet they have a bit less weight to them than your luxury sedan, dont get me wrong i love the is300 there beautiful cars and yes they do have alot of potential but like everyone has stated theres alot of cars that have alot of potential with the right amount of money thrown into them

Shut the fuck up noob we're talking about the drag strip not some random penis fencing street race. If they want to take it to the track and have a good time then do it, no matter what they're driving. Its a blast, but your inexperienced bitch mouth doesn't know that.

If its not obvious yet, I say go to the track and do it. Taking even slow cars down the quarter is worth a good rush.

the auto tranny for the is300 is actually better than the manuals... it has ability to handle more power, and they are super smooth... im pretty sure youll take the jag seeing as tho u have vvti also.

u plan on throwing boost? if u do i would just look for the supra tt kit. and run the supra's tune for time being for a cheap option for boost

except it's all wheel drive, and has the durotec v6 instead of vulcan v6 with an aggressive tune. the durotec v6 makes the 6g72 look like garbage. i would say it is one of the best 3.0 v6's i have ever seen and i hate ford

I raced an IS300 with my GT, all he got to do was stare at my tail lights. They're nowhere near fast, as neither are our cars.

I disagree, mine's pretty fast. I kept up with a 02 GT mustang with x pipe, headers and exhaust it was the 4.6. I'm not saying it's the fastest car on the road but it's not slow imo. I test drove 3 is's and mine was the fastest of them all.

I would say even if anything, like i said the is300 is not the fastest car neither is the Eclipse GT. The IS would be faster if it didn't weigh so much, just like the supra it's heavy but is compensated with the GTE.

I personally have always liked the looks of the IS exterior and interior. I wanted one real bad since the day they came out.

when i had my stock motor with only intake i had a woman drive my eclipse home one night after drinking at a party. She had the 6 speed manual IS 300 and fell in love with my 3g saying it felt much quicker. I told her it's slow but she claimed faster than her IS.

Just be happy in the long run that you bought the IS. It may be even with the 3.0 but the awd is slow. Jags have a tendency to be unreliable cars and expensive to fix where the lexus will hardly break down. The IS is better looking, straight six, reliable. So you have an automatic win on your side in my books.

My IS has 120k and i have never had any problems what so ever with it. Never had a check engine light come on. However, my mix servo needs replaced the part that directs airflow because it makes a clicking sound sometimes.

6 speed

IS only came with 5 speed unless she did the 6 speed supra swap. If she had the 6 speed im pretty much 100% sure she would have the GTE engine in as well and i doubt the 3g could hang with that
