Cammed 6g72 with a t67 turbo?? Look

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9...8d013997be.htm

After inspection, it has a weird chrysler intake manifold, with the throttle body on the other side. However, it seems to have similar valve covers as our motor.

Any ideas guys

Yeah, it's the 12V 6g72 found in the dusters and stuff. Why are you so surprised?

Go do your 6G72 history assignment as you are obviously getting an F in that class at this point.

Greg, I used to have a Dodge Shadow(Duster) back in the day, and the top model came with a 4cyl turbo, but not a V6 from what I recollect. These guys have been swapping in the 12v into those engine bays. I swear that's the guy that has been hanging out on this forum in the GT/GTS section.

The old dusters / shadows / etc had the option of the 3.0L 12V SOHC 6G72.

I should know, I've worked on more than I care to count. Also the same motor found in the lebaron's and some minivans.

And oh yeah, the turbo model is the premium model on the dusters. The 3.0L was like the base model so you were right in a way Russ.

Very good info. I was under the impression that swapping in a 3.0L v6 was a special upgrade for them.

I really liked my ES that I had, it was teal and it like came stock with a silver lip kit around the bottom. The engine in it was pure shit though. It was my first car so I drove around WOT in California on the freeways out there and over time it would not accelerate past a certain MPH anymore. Blew a head gasket, cracked a head (took an ass rape for that one at the Dodge dealership), drove it back here to Florida and threw a rod. Put in another engine, threw a rod again.

Shut up greg. Go play with a tiburon motor or something

About the video, that cam sounds really fricken aggressive. I kinda like how it idles. Im trying to get the specs from the guy who posted the video. And he says he got the custom ground by a local source. I wonder if they will custom grind a core for my car? Maybe it will be cheaper than spending 800$ on rpw cams.

Considering you are waiting for axles that will take another year to be produced, I'm sure my car will be running before yours which means that I win.

shadows/dusters came with the 3.0L in 1993 and 1994. the years prior used the 4 cly turbo as the "high end" option.

i currently own a '94 that's undergoing the turbo treatment. i'm also toying with the idea of converting it over to the 24V 3.0L as i blow this engine. lol!

number-wise, the guy who owns that turbo shadow in the video above had that motor in a spirit. he ran a 13.9 1/4 mile on 5lbs of boost. this new setup, as seen in the shadow, should have more power as he upgraded the turbo and fuel system, as well as worked on tuning.

The 6G72 that comes in the duster only has like 170ish HP. (12v vs. our 24v)

There was a guy at TGC (Tear the same guy that was on these forums) that swapped in our 24v 6G72 and a 5 speed. From what I remember he said the car weighed like 2700lbs. Prolly rips pretty good now.

stock HP on the old 6G72 in the chrysler applicaton was rated 141HP / 170 ft-lbs TQ. Now the true mitsu version found in the stealth was rated 170HP. I had a chance to dyno my shadow (for a school project) right after i rebuilt the engine. I did not take it up to the power band, as i was a wimp since i just got it back together. at 3000RPM i got 127HP 192 ft-lbs TQ. that was with correction factors for air temp and such. the car was stock, so i don't what i did to achieve better than rated torque. but it gives you an idea. also, 3.0's in chrysler applications never were turbo stock.

anyways i'm going to shut up about that now. as for the turbo 3.0, he did beef up the bottom end this time around. he blew up his first engine due to running it to lean for a few seconds.

If you really are a girl I think I'm in love w/ you talking like that.

Back when I first got my R/T, I used to take it to my buddies shop all the time as I wasn't so mechanically gifted at that point. I'd tell him I had a 6G72 in my car and he said, "Yeah it's easy to turbo that thing..." He was thinking of the old 12V 6G72 and not our electronically stunted version. Evidently he had a 350whp Lebaron at one point. That would be pretty sweet even though the car is butt ass ugly.

It's one of those things where you have to live in California and drive 200 miles a day on their freeways in which people that are in the far right lane are going no slower than 85mph. Here in Florida, we drive much slower than that, it was a culture shock when I moved back here for sure.

My buddy just fixed one of the wires on my megasquirt chipset so hopefully I can get that going. 6200 rpms rev limiter sucks and so does mechanical fuel control.
Shame on Chick for not alerting me to this.

same color as my car but def not lol. i know runner length definitely effects a car's running characteristics and i have also heard that 1.5 times the engine displacement is ideal for a plenum. im lacking data on that though, but still looking.

im definitely going to have to make a custum upper intake manifold when i put the M90 supercharger on my 24v. ill have to see about runner length and plenum size myself...

Last Results of built motor. Dyno'd 516whp/519ftlb on the built motor at 20 pounds of boost.

Update.

Removed built motor because of some spark plug damage.

Ran 11.5@125mph on a bone stock engine/heads/cams out of a dodge caravan that cost $90.
The Junkyard's $90 Motor runs 11.5@125 - Car Videos on StreetFire

Now a 10:1 compression Mitsubishi Diamante motor (3.0 12 valve) is installed (because of the higher compression). 190,000 miles on the motor. Have added the ported heads and cams from my built motor.
New setup has been on the dyno but blew out 2 O rings so only made 447 on 18 psi.

Then after damaging the crankshaft on that dyno pull, Finally installed Megasquirt II that I have had for years on the shelf.
Excited to fix the crank and play with the car in the future.

BTW, 6g72 duster is running Megasquirt in his 24v sohc 3.0. I finally got too jealous!
All my motor failures have been from a lack of ability to tune Ignition advance.
