im serious! one nostril has been whistling off an on for over 6 months no matter how much i blow my nose. it just seems to come and go at random and can be very loud. i dont know wtf to do! sometimes just breathing through my nose does it and other times its only when i blow my nose. it was sort of funny at first...but come on its been going off and on for probably close to 8 months (if memory serves). what should i do? reem my nostril with a drill bit? squirt warm water up my nose? shove my finger in as far as i can and see if i can poke my brain? or market this as a novelty act on street corners of chicago for spare change?

It would get better tips in San Francisco.

But seriously, it might be something that only surgery can fix. Maybe the way the nasal cavity is shaped.

it hasnt always been like this! right now its stopped again because my nose is a little congested, but as soon as it clears up it may or may not come back.

its cause your nose isnt all the way clear. just a little post nasal drip, thats when it happens.

i have 3 out of the 5, maybe 4 if i snore but i dont know if i do. and the whistle is always from one nostril only. also i have this bad cough always, probably related to the drainage.

i tried some sort of spray before (might have been afrin? i cant remember) and all it did was give me a sore throat ONTOP of my sinus drainage

Two things that help me:

1) Drink more water. (Funny, but staying hydrated keeps you from having a lot of sinus issues.)
2) Alkalol - Local pharmacy, cheap, and will clear you right up. Use sparingly.

(Although I will admit, I don’t have the whistling issue.)

i try to drink plenty o water but dont always, it does help some tho.

So, your nose sounds like a CRT TV when it's powered on and muted?

Seriously, you should try seeing an nose doctor about that. Sounds like some sort of sinus problem...

no, when it does whistle is louder and lower pitched than that...just like when someone whistles.

I know this is an old thread but I am suffering from the same whistling from one nostril. Did you ever find out the reason as my Doctors are a little stumped.
