So...when do the debates start?
Pardon fucking me, but I tuned in tonight as well as last week to watch a debate. What I have seen is two people stating their stances on the issues, lame attempts at "You are no Kennedy", and...well, that's about it. I have learned relatively nothing about either party or candidate that I did not know before watching either of the debates thus far.
I want a debate in the very sense of the term. Frankly, watching any of the candidates on talk shows has been much more interesting--Obama on O'Rly, McCain on The View, Biden and Palin on Katie Couric for examples. Nobody is CHALLENGED. Nobody is PRESSED. What I have watched so far is the same spiel from both parties that has been stated time and again on both of their campaigns--they just happened to be in the same room this time. That's not a debate, that's a sales pitch. Thoughts? (Yes, I know there is a thread about the VP debate tonight, but I'm talking about these "debates" as a whole, not about an individual one.) |
