craiglist issue

So i put up a ps2 for sale. Sold it to this guy for $50 this past friday, ps2 with 3 controllers. This wasn't my ps2, im not a gamer i only checked it see if it was functional and it was. A couple of hours later he calls me and says only one of the controllers works(when i checked i randomly connected one) and wanted to know what could be done about it(im assuming he wanted me to sell it for cheaper), to which i said i'd take the system back, give him his money back and resell the ps2 with the good controller for the same price on craiglist(he didn't respond back for like an hour---all texting) . I said that it wasn't a problem and that we could meet up at the same place later that day. So he suggest 5pm, i agreed. 5pm came, i was late got there around 5:10, waited and waited and then i get a text at 5:17 from him saying he was stuck at work and couldn't come and to meep up the next day, to which i agreed. Im thinking, he probably sees that for $50 it's still a good deal and doubt about returning it(he's a school bus driver btw). So saturday didn't hear from him, sunday didn't hear from him, and finally today he texts me saying he wants to meep up to return it bc he was away for the weekend. I have not replied, i think he probably used the crap out of it and now changed his mind about it. His last text read "my father is doing a background check on you before pressing charges, all text messages will be reported, i don't want that scam to happen to anyone else". Is this guy serius?? What am i supposed to do, im def not taking the ps2 back anymore.

craigslist is an as is seller site. the judge will throw this case out if he trys to do anything. the judge will ask if the system worked, and if the controller worked. since you gave him many times to return the system and he never returned it, the judge will tell you that you have no obligation to refund the money back.

And if he has my texts saved, that'll prove i was more than willing to take the system back. I sold a phone the next day and the guy wanted to leave right away, i said don't you wanna call sprint and make sure the phone is good before you go(the guy was about 16)? Im not trying to scam anyone that's for sure.

Honestly? Fuck him. You made an attempt. It was his responsibility to test everything before he left. Sure, you should have tested everything, but you didn't. You know better for next time, now. Doesn't matter if you two met in a random parking lot, he should have tested it. Once he starts making threats like that, I wouldn't bother to respond. Who's to say he didn't break a controller somehow?

i didn't even think about he breaking the controllers, i wouldn't be able to prove that since i don't even know if the other two worked anyway, but yeah im not responding his text anymore.

He would be stupid to go to court for $50, with the time and hassle involved. But then again, I see a lot of idiots suing their own family members for next to nothing in court.

lol, this reminds me of nearly every noob flame thread that ever appeared in OT. neither has the correct grasp on enough of the legal system to understand how shallow those 'threats' are.

very briefly looking on ebay, it looks like you priced it competitively at $50, even if it only has 1 controller. he didn't walk away with a deal, but he didn't get raped on price either.

unless you stated that everything was fully tested, i don't see a reason for any refund/return of any sort.

i didn't, i assumed everything worked. As i said in the first post, i did check one of the controllers at random, i wasn't trying to test the controllers to be honest i was trying to test the actual system and it was fine. That's the only reason i told the guy i was giving him his money back. He hasn't called or text me again.

Ps. 4 games were also included in the sale for $50
