That's horrible, but it doesn't surprise me. Old habits die hard, I guess. Very shameful for anyone to act that way, but especially Christians at church about other church members.

this is so full of shit!
![]() A) i was hoping that this was just an over sight of something else, and they are making it a color issue. a lot of churches will not marry people who are not "members" of that church. BUT B) when they said people went to the preacher, thats just sad, and brings up another point, that in some places, the people run the church. if the people dont like what the preacher is doing, they "vote" him out. either by not giving money, or literally voting him out. this makes me sad on so many levels. my church, in south Louisiana of all places, try hard to make it multi-racial. and it is, even multi-racial marriages. which because of old habits is hard for some people to be ok with, but hey we are not perfect, and we get over it. I have a feeling this church wont be around long, and if the preacher wont stand up for whats right, because he doesn't want to get kicked out, then hes not a preacher, just some one that's telling the congregation what they want to hear. |

Churches are the last bastion of stupidity on a number of levels.
I am a little disappointed that the pastor didn't tell the few members of the congregation that were opposed to the ceremony to go piss up a rope, but happy he went through with the ceremony in another venue. Now that this has gone public, I hope for 'civil war' within the congregation and that the actions of the few are erased/corrected by the majority. At the very least, I hope people that aren't fucked in the head begin attending church elsewhere. |

![]() It seems like every time our country takes one step forward in this area, or any area dealing with the rights of citizens, we just end up back where we started all over again. I guess it doesn't matter what we do, there will always be assholes and bigots on this earth.
