HOW TO: V6 Starter removal/install

Done on a Sporty but M/T is similar.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Jack up the car and support with jack stands.

Lay under the car and look up above the Downpipe between the oil filter & front motor mount. There you will see the starter. (pic below)

If you have the stock downpipe still you will want to remove the front bracket that holds it to the motor. This will give you room to remove the starter once it's unbolted. (sorry no pics. Mine was previously removed)

Next move the rubber boot out of the way to reveal the 12mm nut that will be removed.(circled in Green below)

Now remove the 12mm nut (circled in green below) Space is limited so a small socket set works best. Then unlip the harness just above the nut (red arrow below) **Save this nut for the new starter**

Now on the side of the starter towards the rear of the car, follow it towards the trans to find this 14mm bolt and remove it with a 14mm wrench. (circled in green below)

Next move to the trans side of the car and look to the rear of the front motor mount to find and remove this 14mm bolt. (circled in green below)

After this bolt is out the starter can be removed by pulling it towards the passenger side of the car and then slightly turning it to clear the downpipe.

Once the starter is out remove the heat shield that is held on with three 8mm bolts and place it on the new starter.

Install the new starter in reverse order, reconnect the battery and Voila' you're done.
