Chronicles of the MIVEC 6G75 TURBO AWD Spyder built by PharmEcis
This thread was started back in 10/2008 as another "look at my 3G thread" and has now grown into a detailed account of the most amazing build in 3G history. The build started with a simple goal of 500WHP using a 6G74 engine built by my twin shark PharmEcis of UCS Performance. The 6G74 engine he built is the strongest built 6G74 evidenced by the internals, heads and because it was bored to increase displacement from 3.5L to 3.7L. Then in 1/2010 while V6 5 speed AWD talk started to get serious I decided to step up and take on the task of doing the AWD conversion possibly resulting in being the first 3G to achieve it. Then in 7/2011 to quote my friend, the late great silverside "I decided to go all out and cram a 3.8 (MIVEC) 6G75 into it"
. The end result will be a 5 speed AWD 3G Spyder powered by a built MIVEC 6G75 turbocharged engine. This build required a lot of dedication, patience and money on my part and this thread will chronicle all the ups and downs this car went through to achieve something that has never been achieved before and maybe never achieved again. Thanks for reading, enjoy. Table Of Contents Page 1: The "silverside" dedication, modification list. Page 2: The official beginning of the build where PharmEcis first posts in it showing pictures of a piston and rod. Also pics of the car with the 3.0L removed, the black EVO VIII wheels, Brembo calipers and rotors, air to water intercooler kit, the 3.7L motor out and in the engine bay. Page 3: Pics of the Project Mu rear rotors, front valve cover, new front bumper, Club3G decals, the motor being assembled. Early non-serious AWD conversion talk. Page 31: I announce I've upgraded and bought Greg's 6G75 MIVEC motor ![]() ![]() As of this post and until I or PharmEcis post anything different the status of this build is PharmEcis is working on the custom front subframe. Once that is done and has proven to be successful then the rest of the drivetrain will be assembled to make the V6 5 speed AWD conversion a complete success. After that then the turbo parts will be added then the tuning will be done. I think you should swap the white trim for painted interior pieces. The Tach is a little too big for my taste i would go with a smaller shift light, something similar to this. Other than that a few changes here and there and youll be good to go.

I want to paint the interior eventually, the trim is just temporary eye candy. The tach/shift light looks big on the picture but when you're sitting in the drivers seat it looks good because you're further back. The shift light you show is what I originally looked at but I didn't want to put it in the dash cluster because it blocks the gauges there and I also wanted an analog one. As you could see I had to get the fiberglass out to create a level base for it to stand on. I'm gonna install an air/fuel and oil temp gauge in the clockpod, install a racing seat for myself and install a tonneau cover and then I'm done with the interior. Right now I'm really trying to get these motors done.

That's the hot part about the system, it comes with it! It has the speedometer in the middle (which you can't change), but the ones on the left and right you could switch from acceleration, clock, compass, side acceleration, slope and even voltage!

this car has too many ebay parts for my taste, id say lose the skyward pointing mirrors, lose the "eclipse" brake light vinyl, the huge tach is pointless and will never look good, and im not a fan of the wheels, but this is also why u own it and not me, if u like it then enjoy it

I'll consider changing the rear. I had a front plate cover on there but it made the car look like it had a little mustache. I'll try and do something to fill it the holes better.

What is with the gay tach?? The car already has one - pointless mod and very childish. Remove the CD hanging from the mirror - it's not cool and doesn't make our image any better.

I gotta keep the Autobot symbols, I might put the stock mirrors back on and I'm not getting a short shifter, they are literally too short. I'm not comfortable with it. The head unit is a Pioneer AVIC-N4 which comes with the gauges built in. I like that too.

I just wanted a shift light but it came with a tach built in and honestly I don't really look down into my cluster to watch my rpms because it distracts me from driving so having the tach/shift light in my view hopefully works for me. I've seen smaller ones that people have put in front of the cluster and to me that's pointless especially for me because I don't look down in the cluster. The dash on the eclipse has no flat surface to put one on that's why I made the fiberglass base. It is not completed yet, but once it is installed it should look nice. The CD's are coming off though.

only thing i think you have done right so far would have to be the shifter and gauges. Im not really feeling the white trim. Take the time to take off the dash and paint it, it would look WAY better. The giant tach... Pointless if you ask me. You already have one right in front of you? If anything, just add a small shift light. Your wheels are alright.
-- Things to be done -- Paint dash Get smoked corners Black tyc tails Tint rev. lights Hide the radar power cord in the dash Trash the eminem cd Clean out door cubby hole Look into black leather seats? Its has potential! good luck

Nice spyder but i would do alot of things to clean it up a bit. Black housing tunr signals, tinted everse lights, black-ish tail lights, debadge rear, and clear-smoked thrid brake light. I dont like the transformer emblems either but its whatever you like i guess.

i'm sorry, but that car is not my taste at all. you may like it, but IMO go back to stock and start over
edit 1/23/11 : i completely take back the above stated comment, i absolutely love what you are now doing with your car

I see I've received a lot of feedback in the last month, some positive mostly negative LOL but it's cool. I could take it. The car has changed from those pictures however. It now has black housing front turn signals, tinted tail and reverse lights. There is a Greddy EVO2 exhaust I swapped over. The tach/shift light was never installed by the way and the CD was removed from the mirror. The black front grill is now flush with the bumper. The dash trim kit MIGHT go but the Autobot badges aren't. They're my personal liking. I've seen numerous cars driving around with autobot "stickers" that were oversized and when I put these on I've received plenty of compliments and have been asked where did I get them from. A definite change that is coming will be a 3.5l turbo kit from PharmEcis. A friend and I drove down to his residence to give him a deposit on the motor on May 1st. For those who haven't met him he's a very good guy and definetely knows his stuff. Like I mentioned I brought a friend who knows about mechanics and engines with me and what was intended to be a quick drop off of the deposit turned out to us talking about 2 hours about cars. The motor should be done hopefully in 5 weeks tops. Also just for clarity, this car (Spyder) is not the one in my avatar. The car in my avatar was my 1st 3g which I supercharged and have since sold. I bought 04MOJOGT's 3g and did a motor swap with the supercharger plus other upgrades. Misti Bishi has stated he has seen it personally which is true. We were both driving and he recognized the car and we started talking and he even gave me a door speaker that I needed for free. That 3g I want to sell by the way. The outside of the car hasn't changed from when 04MOJOGT had it but of course it has been upgraded CONSIDERABLY internally. But back to the Spyder, it is a work in progress like I stated in the title of the thread. I'll have some more pics posted when the weather cooperates. Later.

I guess what I don't understand is how you can go and buy something so tastefully modded and eye appealing as 04MOJO's 3G and do something so "ricerific"? I'm not suggesting that you go ahead and mimic the hard top 3G but I think 04MOJO's old car should be more than enough to give you tasteful ideas on what route to go. It's your car, of course and I understand that, but my god, I love the Transformers but not enough to do that to my car. Unless you like people pointing and laughing at you.
Everytime I see that "badge" I say

![]() OR: ![]() I'll have the front license plate holes filled in and once I get my 3.6+L turbo motor from Pharmecis I'll debadge the vehicle. Here in NY there are a lot of vehicles with big Autobot stickers on them that to me look out of place. My badges are small and I get plenty of compliments about them. If that's "ricerific" then so be it because it can't be the gauges, the head unit, the radar detector, the roll/light bar, the side mirrors, the front grill insert, the wheels, the exhaust, the drop, the lights or the lack of a body kit.

well it definitely could be the mirrors, they like they are trying to fly away, and do follow the lines of the car... at all. and the wheels, well they look overdone, for the car too. but the emblems, are the kicker. and perhaps you could straighten the grill. it having the double bow, looks odd, and out of place.

Thanks. I bought this one I think a year ago. It was under $400 then. A member on here or the .org was trying to do a group buy but never got enough people and I couldn't wait so I bought it on my own.

Only thing that gets me is that you actually seem to at least half way know what you're talking about, but it's not translating into a tastefully modded car. As long as those emblems are on the car no one here is going to take you seriously. You say "the kids like them" well I personally mod my car for a different audience. Also the wheels belong on a ghett0 Impala or something, they simply look tacky and take away from the overall look of the car. OEM badges + a set of nice wheels and your car would look 100% better.

those mirrors are one of the examples of things that were not made for our cars, but adapted to fit.... kinda. like the blitz kit. it fits, but looks like crap on 3Gs (glad you didn't put one of those on). many members have parts that they like that others will not. your emblems, my headlights, etc.. some things look bad, and are cheap (your dash kit, and mirrors) other things look odd, and are expensive (your wheels). remember people are posting their opinions, don't take offense, just move on, but listen and think about what they say.
you know... come to think of it... that light bar looks like crap, you should sell it to me for 20 bucks.. so i can.. ummm... dispose of it. :P |
