I finally got my hands on a 2G GSX. Here goes another build.
After much searching on ebay, craigslist, dsmtuners and a host of used car websites the past year I finally was able to find a 2G '98 GSX in good condition for a decent price. Honestly I should've bought one of these instead of buying 04MOJOGT's car last year but I was blinded by the fact I already had an SDS and rebuilt motor for the 3G plus my car knowledge wasn't where it is today.
The car was in Rochester, NY which is about a 6 hour drive one way from Queens, NYC. Needless to say a friend and I drove up there around 1:30am and brought the car back this afterrnoon arriving home at 4:30pm. This is the actual Craigslist ad for the vehicle: ** SOLD** 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Turbo AWD The owner also owned a 3G before buying this car. She had this for a year and bought it from someone who owned it for 8 years. The car is in GREAT shape. She also threw in a good amount of mods for free. She is a real nice young woman who to my surprise was also really attractive. So anyway now I have a "winter vehicle" and a new project. Here are some quick pics I took of the vehicle before the the sunset. A hassle free sale completed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's been a LONNNNNNNNG day and fatigue is now setting in.

Wow that looks nice. I could never buy a modded GSX/T because of what people have done to them. That looks very very nice though. Love the color.

Thanks! The only mods done were the Magnaflow exhaust, an AutoMeter boost gauge with pillar pod, B&M short shifter, HID kit, Tokiko suspension, Cams and Cam gears (I guess that is a lot). The other internals of the motor and tranny are still stock, but you know that's getting upgraded. Trust me, now seeing what Luke is going through right now with his 3G I was very weary of buying a modded vehicle but lots of the good stuff had yet to be installed. Check out the link I posted of the ad.

HELL YEAH!! When it's all said and done this car will be putting down more power than my Spyder. When I do decide to start this build I'll post it in this thread. Thanks!

Technically I have 3 cars but the hardtop SDS I'm selling.Well I never said "winter project" just that this will be my winter car. It will be a project in the future however. The roads are usually taken care of pretty quickly in the winter but my motivation for buying this car and 04MOJOGT's at the time was that I don't want to put my Spyder's roof through a winter beating. I've done that before and have learned a hard lesson from it. I wanted a hardtop during the cold winter season.

Thanks! Are you familiar with Elmgrove Park? There's a collision shop which is the first building you see when you enter the complex. Like less than 2 miles from I-490 west. That's where the owner works at.

Jesus what a coincidence (sorta). There's a '98 GSX Titanium for sale here locally. Wish I was able to buy it, only has 79,000 miles on it. Dealer is asking 8 grand for it though
![]() Would love to have a 2g GSX, you make me jealous

I'm glad you like it. That GSX for sale by you for $8,000 with that amount of mileage doesn't sound too bad especially if it's clean.

Thanks guys. The 6 bolt conversion WILL DEFINETELY be done. I have something waiting in the wings. It's just a matter of dotting some I's and crossing some T's.

I did an oil change today and took some quick pics. Here you go:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Changing the oil was a bit of work. It's not as easy as the 3G, my first time I guess but I'm good to go for future changes. For those not familiar with this car the oil filter doesn't face down like the 3G but horizontally and is right up against the downpipe. That isn't too bad but the filter was on so damn tight I had to get my oil filter wrench out and it was a bitch getting the wrench to slip through the tiny space between the filter and downpipe to get a grip on the oil filter. Once I got the wrench on it it was smooth sailing from there. I was also surprised this motor requires 4.5 quarts of oil like the V6. Another surprise is there isn't a windshield wiper reservoir under the hood. I added a little anti-freeze but found all the other fluids under the hood to be at top level. Took it for a spin and everything's good to go.

You know the usual - 6 bolt motor with internals upgrade, transmission upgrade probably SHEP RACING and definetely upgrading the turbo. I'm also going to throw some Brembo's on it. Interior wise I'm going to replace the front seats, install the necessary gauges and an in-dash navigation head unit. Exterior wise I'll just touch up the necessary areas that need painting. In the end I want this car to be more powerful than the 3.7L TURBO Spyder. Now that I have AWD I can step up my power goals.
