GT Mitsu's 01 GT (3.8 non-mivec)
Spring 2010 when I first got the car, from a kid in Wisconsin. It was fairly unmolested with wheels, eBay intake, Dual Chrome Halos, and a muffler delete. It also included a decent sound system worth 1400 watts, which was stolen at the park while I was off on a run.
Anyway, I was smitten. My first car, financed! ![]() However, it wasn't long before I realized I was turning into a ricer. A straight up, cosmetic douche with no real mindset behind what I was doing to the car. I decided that it was time to invest my money into worthwhile mods. So I lowered it, Summer 2011. AGX's and Tanabe Springs, advertised 1.7"x2" drop. Two years later the springs have settled even more, and it's now close to a 2"x 2.25" drop. ![]() ![]() Later that summer, I did a Diamante manifold swap and detailed the engine bay a bit. ![]() Then it stayed that way for the winter. Along with spring fever 2012 came a urge to buy stuff. And I did. ![]() New Front Grille, New Dual LED Halo Headlights with Black Bezel, and New Enkei MM2's. The MM2's are the same wheel I had before, just in better shape. Sold my old ones for $300 and bought these in better shape with better tires for the same price. It was a steal. Also, summer 2012 was a big one for performance upgrades as well. Sleeved Prothane Bushings ![]() ![]() 74 TB to go with the 74 Intake Manifold and an Injen True CAI with Dryflow filter. ![]() CMF Short Tubes ![]() And a 3" Stainless Catless Exhaust from a GST ![]() ![]() Also got a tune from Silvertune. This meant I had every bolt on available to the 6G72 (minus 75 stuff) and nothing else could be done to improve the performance of the car. This meant it was time to see where I was at. Club3G MN set up a day to visit MAP in Brooklyn Park for a Dyno Day. Out of the three 3G's that ran, I was in the middle. Made 180whp/186wtq ![]() I was satisfied, until the winter when I started thinking about what to do next. Then this pretty much knocked on my door. ![]() ![]() It's the glorious 3.8L from an 08 Endeavor with 48k on the ticker. Plans include replacing the missing pulley components, 75IUM from a Galant, 74TB, and GTS Cams with a heavily ported top end UIM and LIM. I got it for a whopping ... $300. It was a craigslist find, pulled from a yard by the guy who I bought it from, with the assumed intentions of swapping that in his Endeavor. And here is the car as it sat during the end of summer 2012. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From the 2012 All Mitsu Cookout ![]() ![]() Mods: Engine: 6G74 Plenum with minor port work 6G74 Throttle Body w/ coolant delete AEM CAI CMF Catless Headers 3" Headerback Stainless Steel Suspension: KYB AGX Adjustable Struts Tanabe GF210 Lowering Springs (approx. 1.7 rear, 2.0 front) Full Prothane Kit Drivetrain: OEM Exedy Clutch replaced at 120k Prothane Motor Mounts Exterior: 18" Enkei MM2's Tinted side markers Tinted reverse lights Dual Halo Black Housing Headlights Billet Side Vents Grillemaster Grille Interior: 15" JL Audio 400W Audiobahn Amplifier Pioneer 6x9's Pioneer Component Door Speakers Pioneer Tweeters Pioneer Head unit Cobra 9-band Radar Detector Last edited by GTmitsu; 03/22/2013 at 10:12 AM. On the drop, need to grease the end links cause they rattle and squeak a little. I think I'm dragging a brake pad too, cause I hear a grind when I'm not braking. |

Settles Springs and Clean!
Spent some time on the car today, cleaning the piss out of it. Washed, clay barred, waxed, vacuumed, windexed, cleaned the engine bay a bit.
The body is starting to show some age. A little bit of paint chippage under the exhaust, noticed some rust bubbles on the rear hatch , and the front bumper is really getting bad with chips and scratches. Looks like new front clip will be coming soon. I happen to be doing some web design for a body shop, so maybe I can barter some work for paint? Anyway, here are some pictures. The clay barring didn't really do much for the appearance of the paint, or at least anything totally noticeable. It is much smoother by feel, so that is nice. With me and a buddy each barring, we managed to do the entire car in about 35 minutes. After the bar, we rinsed the car off and then went at it with some more Quick Detail and Nu Finish. This thing shines like a virgin at prom! Also going in for an alignment tomorrow. I think I might have a bad rear strut, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. There is a loud clanking noise coming from the rear passenger side, whenever I go over bumps. I'm hoping its rubbing, or maybe I reassembled the strut bump stops incorrectly. I'm also hoping that since I have some wicked camber going on, that it's the wheel bumping against the control arm. If the alignment doesnt fix the issue, I'll have to take the strut assembly out and reassemble them. I'm also thinking it's the hatch strut, but I'm not sure if they make a clanking noise when bad. The hatch stays up without a problem. I'll keep you posted. Anywho, enough BSing. Here's some pics. I'm the douche in blue A good shot of the rear camber and front gap. My 18's fit nice in the front, real snug in the back. I hope the alignment gives me some more top clearance for the control arms. Right now I have about 1/2" gap, and when I hit the big bumps, I feel the smash from the rear. Plus, MN roads still suck!!! Those are clouds!!!!!! |

Soon to be installed.
![]() Thanks to Justin for the good deal on the grille. The headlights are Halo Projectors with the black housing. No HID's in them yet, and I'm even debating on whether or not I want to fit them in. I have no problems with the output from the Xenon lights. However, with the new grille I might need a brighter headlight as I will most likely be removing the fog lights. The halo Rings are about 5x brighter than the ones from the old Headlights the PO installed. Very pleased with them. I also have a complete Prothane bushing Set setting in my watched items cart on eBay. Along with that is everything needed to replace the timing belt since I'm getting up near 128k. Plans for this summer are custom tails, 6g74 TB to match the Manifold, Headers, possibly a tint, and new wheels (same wheel, just better cond.) Last edited by GTmitsu; 03/30/2012 at 08:19 PM. |

Put in the new headlights today. They are teh secks. Still need to be aimed, so driving home tonight will be interesting. I like the way they look, and the materials are much better quality than the old Dual Halo's the PO installed. My old headlights started to leak water last fall, so I cooked them and resealed them. Long story short, they started to leak again hence the reason why I purchased these.
First pic is the old headlight on the left (ps) vs. new headlight on the right (ds). You can definitely see the difference a clear light lens makes. ![]() For some reason (or maybe it was supposed to be this way) the lights came wired as the projectors being the high beam light and reflector being the low beam light. To me this didnt make sense, as the reflector light was brighter than the projector light. So i moved the pins around and wired it so the projector was low beam. ![]() ![]() ![]() You cant really see the halo's. Oh well. I was thinking about fitting in LED's in the halo's to make them brighter, but the halo rings are sealed inside the light where my old headlights had holes drilled in the shrouding where the led's could be glued and sealed in to illuminate the rings. Not the case on these lights, and probably for good reason to prevent moisture from seaping in. ![]()

I should've taken us away from street lights last fall so you could've seen what my headlights are like. Straight down.
Also, the switched projector/high beam wiring is also a trait of the anzo's (my POS's). You hypocrite, preaching to me about modding the eclipse when the Honda simply needs a few repairs when you're gonna go ahead and blow your load on the barge. If you need any help with it, I know nothing of land barges but I've got tools and arms to use them.

I was just harping you lol. But I do need some help lump porting the head. I need a die grinder with a good rasp and a drill press to countersink some bolt holes in the head. Otherwise, all I am doing to the 250 is a mild cam and rollers. Plus, replacing the fuel system from tank to carb.

Did you get a full completed motor? If you have it torn down you might as well balance it. Makes a HUGE difference in those older heavier motors and its cheap if you have no other work to do to it. I'm sure that's beyond what you're looking for though. |

I'm picking up the complete 250ci tomorrow. It's running and will drop right in. The head for the 230 and 250 are the same dimensions and are a direct bolt on. Depending on the cam I get, I may revert back to the 230 head which has different compression. The mods I can achieve are endless. Hell I can even rig up a blow by turbo system for around 300 HP on stock pistons. These old inliners are rock solid, built to last.

It's sitting in my garage with a flat tire, 9 month old gas, and a tank full of decomposed fuel clogging the sending unit (at least thats what I think). I took it out three times last year, and it was a major headache mostly because it would vaporlock and not want to start. That and the black exhaust, obnoxious lifter tick, and occaisional stalling because of said fuel issues. I have a photo album on facebook and on here with some pictures.

Its a good thing you got new headlights. The new ones actually fit and don't appear to have that weird gap like your old ones.

![]() ![]() The Halo's look amazing in the dark. Spent 50 minutes last night aiming them. Question for anyone who's aimed Projectors. Does the screw on the projector side aim them left/right and the screw on the deflector side aim them up/down? There is also a bigger glare with these lights. Might have to send them to soupboy for some treatment. ![]() My NOGAF update: ![]() 250ci inline 6 cylinder I picked up today. Plans are simple and include about $25 in rust stripping chemicals, a few cans of rattlecan paint, lump ported heads, rollers rockers, headers, and a rebuilt carb. I'm excited to tear into this

Roller rockers but no 75$ cam upgrade? Cmon now, living in the same general area on me is enough to rub that off on you!

Forgot about that. The cam I'm looking at is a Mild Street cam. MAX RPM is 5750 I think. Don't quote me on that. I can say that the 230 is slower than mollases running through the RPM's. With that said, I don't expect this engine to break through as fast as a small block but it should help ky low end torque, plus the cam and I should be set.
