Clem's 03 gts
![]() NEWEST PHOTOS are in later posts... for now I'm leaving these here, but you'll see the exterior parts don't match. Wheels/tires/suspension: Enkei RS7 19x7.5 +35 Silver wheels Michelin Pilot Super Sport 225/35/19 (just replaced my old Toyo Proxes FZ4) For winter, stock wheels are on with Nexen Winguard Sport snow tires KYB AGX adjustable struts Eibach Pro-kit lowering springs Eibach rear camber kits Suspension Techniques rear anti-sway bar Road Race Engineering rear strut tower brace Moog sway bar endlinks, front and rear Prothane front sway bar bushings Brakes: EBC slotted & dimpled front rotors with Hawk HPS pads rusty OEM replacement rear rotors with EBC redstuff padsEngine/mechanical: Carbon fiber CAI/SRI or AEM aluminum, depends on the weather Fidanza lightweight aluminum flywheel Exedy OEM replacement clutch Prothane side and rear motor mount inserts (with extra inner sleeve in the rear...) Energy Suspension front motor mount insert and cross member bushings Torque Solutions shifter cable bushings ES shifter stabilizer bushings Megan short shifter Sound: JVC KD-A815 head unit Sony XM-SD22X - bridged, driving one Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 in a sealed box Orion CS200 - 4 channels driving MB Quart 6.5 2-way coaxials in the front doors and Rockford Fosgate 5.5 3-way speakers in the rear deck Stock Infinity amp driving Clarion 6x9s in the back with (Clarion) tweeters on the dash.. strangely, it sounds great... "big 3" power cables upgraded Optima Red Top battery etc.... not pushing more than 800 W RMS, is my best estimate... Security: JVC faceplate comes with me...all the other audio stuff is old and used.. The Club steering wheel lock, if I'm somewhere funky. Gorilla lug nuts with special key Nice loud alarm Exterior: Sonar headlights with 6000k HID low beams TYC carbon fiber tails LED third brake light Smoked corners Rolled rear fender inner edge Cut front inner fenders "black boxes" out Interior: Cabin air filter added, mouse nest deleted Sound deadening -- eDead 80 on metal body panels in doors, trunk, and around back seats ![]() I sometimes imagine: ...that I wouldn't have to drive it in the winter (although it is kinda fun) ...that I might turbo or super charge it More possible: New catback exhaust.....maybe headers..but maybe not Underbody restoration/rustproofing (these roads are salty hell in the winter) Various suspension bushing upgrades It's been mine since late 2008, at 83,000 miles -- and just passed 144,000 now. It's a daily driver, obviously. All the audio/electrical and exterior work was done by me, the pros did stuff like my timing belt, and most everything else mechanical that has been needed. I've never pulled apart the engine bay myself beyond the air intake. It runs great. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice work. Super clean and everything seems in order. Hopefully when Chaz's lights get to you then it'll look much better cause I HATE those taillights with a passion. They're so ugly. Anyway my suggestion for the exhaust would be the Invidia n1 or the Greddy Evo 2 as they are both my favorite in sound and quality. I have a invidia myself and you can find tons of youtube videos on them. They sound mean and loud without the fart can raspyness. Anyway good luck with your plans. She's beautiful

Thanks all!
Yeh, the tails are awful Mitsubishi, what were you thinking... ![]() I'm gonna have to wait quite a while on the exhaust unless I go for a less expensive option... Also, I'd kinda go for less loud and mean, but real deep, "you can feel the bass" when it drives by. I was kind of fascinated by the d5 Concepts 3" catback that whiteGTS posted recently. $130...hmmm Last edited by clem; 11/06/2011 at 12:18 PM. Reason: wrong emoticon |

I remember seeing this in a new members thread about a month ago and the thing that helped me remember were those wheels. It's clean, nice, and great choice on the wheels.

It is lowered -a bit- on KYB agx and Eibach springs (pro kit, not sport line). This dropped it 1.5 inches front and rear, I would say. It handles a LOT better than it did before those were put on, and it's a pretty comfortable ride. I set the AGXs on 2 all around most of the time. (otherwise 3 if I feel adventurous)
maybe in the future, if I have more funds (or the current suspension wears out) I would get some nice coil overs. Last edited by clem; 11/06/2011 at 06:54 PM. Reason: typo and add stuff |

If I had done some more reading, and thought about it more, I might have gone for coilovers to begin with. Seems like you can get more for your money, and I probably could have installed them myself (more easily)?? Not sure about that, but I was afraid to try with the springs/struts combo...

Here's a picture of my grill, which was really easy to make -- I mainly wanted to stop the radiator from getting more beat up than it already was when I got the car. I'll probably re-make another one, a little nicer than this, sometime when this one is dirtied enough. I know it doesn't look that great... but I like it, and I can make it better next time and clean up the edges.

I like the placement of my current grill, actually, better than the ones that sit up front. Just my personal taste (I felt like that even before making this one) But I should make it again, with a cleaner edge, and a better screen material, or paint the one I use next time. I still have 3 or 4 gutter screens in the pack I bought to make this one

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices but I still like my placement better... .. so I'd rather just stick with what I've got and make it better next time. I never should put a picture of that up... nobody ever would have seen it hmm... that same ebay store also sells varies kinds of grille material by the sheet. I like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CCG-UNIVERSA...ht_1649wt_1156 I might rather buy that and make my own. Last edited by clem; 11/06/2011 at 10:37 PM. Reason: more stuff |

Thanks for the comments everyone, whether positive or otherwise; I'm glad to get some feedback.
(I just have to procrastinate on posting pictures of the engine bay to avoid further "otherwise" comments...)

the comments, while sometimes blunt, aren't meant to bash you, they are meant to help you improve your car. grille craft is the only nic egrille out there and is also kind of pricey, if you are going to make your own then take your time and make it look nice

the darn car is getting way more for xmas than me..
![]() but she has to wear those dirty corroded wheels all winter long. I feel bad. Unfortunately the rear main seal is dripping oil, and it's going to be time to replace the clutch along with it while the transmission comes off. And I have to pay someone else to do it. $$$ So next present for her will be an Exedy Stage 1, and a resurfaced flywheel. I don't think I'm gonna spring for a new lightweight flywheel. |

Thanks Chaz! They are quite nice.
I'm about to put together a new harness for the headlights, too, to make the HIDs stay on when I switch to high beam...and relay dedicated power wires. Last edited by clem; 12/27/2011 at 04:30 PM. |

I'm rethinking now if I should get a Exedy OEM replacement instead of the Stage 1... and maybe a flywheel.
Someone is selling the Exedy OEM kit and a flywheel right now at a pretty good price... hmmm. |

Happy New Year
![]() Exedy OEM clutch and Fidanza flywheel are on the way for this car. Rear main oil leak will get fixed at the same time. I'm tired of smelling burning oil. Yuk |

I don't know why i never put my suspension mods up top... the original photos that I posted do show the car lowered on the AGX/Prokit setup...
if anyone's looking...but that's what it is if you're curious.Updates are: I have a new Exedy OEM replacement clutch and Fidanza flywheel in the car now. Feels quite nice. New shifter cable bushings also very nice, and Energy Suspension front mount is very, very nice. I have new front sway bar bushings in there as well. The original ones were split in half. I drove a 170 mile highway trip over the weekend (probably averaged 70-80 mph) and carefully checked my milage at fuel-up etc. The car made about 28 mpg going one way and 29 mpg the other... made me kinda happy... that's the best I've ever seen from it. I calculate every time I get gas, and I usually get 22-25 with suburban/city driving mixed in with the highway. |
