The Bandit

Alright I have been working on getting my car running in decent condition just so I can get to and from. Oil leaking into my spark plug tubes, ignition wires being shitty. Learning the hard way doing my own repairs etc etc. Now that I've got everything working right I'm going to put up my progress and take any suggestions from the site. I've gotten a lot of ideas and will start putting them in my own time. Right now the time line is to get the car boosted by mid October. Enough talk lets start throwing up some pics.

Current Mods:
Weapon R Dragon Intake
Skunk 2 Muffler
Megan Racing Coilovers
Dual Halo Headlights
Shine Body Kit(not put on just yet holding off on that until car runs the way I want)
Eibach Camber Kit Front and Rear

Mods Wanted:
Wiseco Forged Pistons
RPW Camshaft Billet, Valve Spring Kit, Forged Steel Conrods (this is mostly just to make sure I wont destroy my engine block in the long run)
IPT DSM / Mitsubishi F4A33 Performance Transmission (this is an automatic transmission upgrade meant for those of us who want to boost)
Evo 8 16g Turbo(purchased)
Evo 8 Exhaust Manifold(purchased)
Evo 8 WGA(purchased)
Evo 8 O2 Housing(purchased)
Mishimoto Intercooler(purchased)
Evo 8 Injen IC Piping(purchased)
Evo 8 Injen Intake(purchased)
Eclipse GT Injen Exhaust
Evo 8 ECU
Evo 8 Patch Jumper Harness
Evo 9 Bov

I like the flat/matte red but it kinda looks like you spray painted it yourself. My Advise, Get it professionally painted. But good start!

yeah I went for the matte red look because I've never seen it done. The place that did the paint didnt do that great of a job but regardless I'm going to keep it that color. And no strut bar because literally a day after I got the car painted needing brakes, replacing spark plug tubes and paying car insurance kind of took over my mindset

yeah funny story i let a professional shop put the paint on and when I came in to pick it up I was so angry at the fact that it was half way done I demanded they either do it right or give me half my money back....They gave me half my money back. I'm going to do the same paint again by myself I got a paint gun and a rigid air compressor

yeah thats what I frickin said!!! They obviously didnt even sand the car down before they painted. And inside the door, trunk, and under the hood is still the original pearl white paint. So me and a few guys in my car club are going to help me sand it down get rid of a few dents and try putting a better matte red paint to it.

If it helps, i painted my car myself by watching some youtube vids and some guidance from a guy who loves working on cars. And it came out pretty good. You can do a better job than that shop if you are up for the task

$600 in labor sounds like a cheap at home job. My car is getting sprayed for a little under 3k, but that holds no short cuts. All rubber, glass, & body panels removed. While it may cost nearly the KBB value of our cars, price is not a concern for its purpose. Surely would not spend that much on my daily 'beater'.

Well Tx4Codeman I really didnt know any better on the pricing just because I was going off of the word of somebody else in the club. Like I said next weekend I'll do it all over by myself and go from there hopefully it will turn out alright.

Did some extra research on some things that were actually bothering me in regards to building the engine up and working with the transmission. Granted what I found has made the boost build a little more costly but I have an OCD issue and worry since this is my daily driver. I'd rather put a few thousand into it now and try to squeeze 13-18psi the way I want without going mivec or MT. Any thoughts on this I'll take

You went from one dull look to another dull look. Let's get some gloss & shine to the exterior.

Either the rear is way too low or you need more camber. Roof looks good though.

Got the Eibach Camber Kit putting that on as soon as I get some time. And tomorrow is some interior paint, raising the rear and maybe if all works buying my first engine part for the pre-boost build or some new seats

I like the matte look. If you can show me a red gloss that looks good but not the same as everybody else I'll give into your suggestion. But for now being possibly the only matte red 3G in my area is nice....just saying but I do like your criticism dude gives me something to think about

Eh, I guess I'd have to see it in person, but it looks like oxidized paint to me.

It looks cheap and unfinished. I have never been a fan of the flat look, while it's just my opinion anyhow. If you looked through the final pages of my members ride page, you would see where i'm coming from. Presentation being very important to me is an understatement.

Well obviously it looks cheap because the job was cheap. Live and learn sir live and learn. I guarantee you when I am done it will look clean inside and out. I'll put new pics of everything up in a few days. I have repainted, added the camber kit, new wheels and tires. Only thing I have not put on that I have is the turbo kit and body kit.

Jesus, what happened to this car? It looks like it lost a fight with a can of spray paint. Shit is everywhere.

You paid someone to do that. Did I read this correctly? Is the shop just a tent set up behind the local Amscot, or something?

Seriously, get some chalkboard paint and go nuts. A friend of mine has a car that has been on Jalopnik and in several magazines with nothing more than chalkboard paint. That, or get your sponsor to wrap the entire car.

Actually I'm going the plastidip route. Might go back to white and have a red and black interior though. Just trying to get the car boosted now. The bandit can look rough for now as long as it runs clean...what's the point of looking good if your car runs like shit.

Fair enough. That should be fine. I look forward to seeing it.

Think I'm going to buy the transmission and ship it up to IPT and start getting the engine build parts tomorrow. This week is going to be a long one if it works out right.

Timing belt snapped so heres to hoping fixing the timing assembly and getting that engine build done next week will be a good deal. Since I cant drive the transmission was sent up to NJ where IPT is located for a cool $2800...but once its done with this engine build I can post up what the cars able to handle when I take it to be tuned.
