98' Eclipse GSX Build
I am just going to copy and paste all of the stuff from my other members ride instead of re-typing everything so here it is
![]() Just got the car yesterday and already having problems so I went to autozone and my battery tested bad along with the output for the alternator failing. So I went up to mufflerman with my battery from my eclipse and had them put it in and test it, and the test came back that the alternator was fine along with the battery. So I am going to go back up there in about 3 days to make sure both are still testing out okay. If not I guess I get a new alternator. Before I put my battery in from the 3g he said that the alternator was running at like 14(volts maybe, idk what they measure it in) while it was being revved, but at idle the alternator was at like 11 and I guess it should stay at 11 the whole time. But the battery fixed it from what we know so far. The car: Just curious you guys do I make a new thread for a new car or just keep this thread and post it here? Sorry my picture taking skills suck! This is after I waxed and cleaned it ![]() ![]() The wheels are pretty nice I like them but I work at discount tire so I bought brand new tires today along with having some nice wheels that I am putting on it tomorrow. I will get more pics of how it looks with these wheels tomorrow morning before I change them. Yes, it is missing a piece of the sideskirt I need to order it ![]() ![]()

Just copy and paste from dsmtuners sorry guys I have to run and wanted to post these before I leave I will maybe add some comments in later but here is the car as it sits.
More pictures sorry I am a picture whore I guess. ![]() My Dad looking at the car. ![]() Some sort of boost control a previous owner put on I suppose says HBC I think :/ ![]() Not sure why someone bypassed a fuse and wired this right into the fuse box it says on the cover it should be for the high beams and a 10a fuse should be there but for some reason there is a 25a fuse so the previous owner did all that. Not sure if this affects anything. ![]() ![]() ![]() I hope you guys like it! I am currently working on fixing my shitty idle problem and other electrical issues. I will keep it updated! |

That GSX is looking pretty nice. Paint looks really clean. I would love to have a GSX but I don't think I'd fit in one being 6' 5". I barely fit in my 3G. can't wait to see your future Mods.

Running into DSM problems already the car is driving kind of rough only two codes are 02 sensor and transmission selenoid sensor I am going to fix them both hopefully this week but people also told me I should change or check my ISC because it is idling like shit. I checked all over DSMTuners to find the location of the ISC and tried searching rockauto for a new one but couldn't find it. I posted a thing on DSMTuners but hasn't been answered last time I checked.
Anyone know if the ISC being bad would cause it to drive bad? |

That is an awesome video thank you! Going to have to take mine off like that and check it because I am getting irritated with how it drives. I need to find out where to get the big 3 upgrade too.

Alright DSMTuners has helped a little but I am not getting any help on the part number for the damn ISC. I have searched and searched can't figure it out!
Also need to figure out what I should do for a TB going to replace it with a better blowing one along with replacing all my seals/gaskets need to track down this problem. Edit: Didn't want to bump again! Tomorrow my goals are to check my ISC, alternator test again, boost leak test, and a compression test done along with a vac leak test. I want to make sure this damn thing runs right! Then I am going to be ordering an ISC (pissing me off that not a single person knows a part number for it on this planet), walbro 255 fuel pump, arp main studs, stainless valves, and a new head that I can start building so I have no down time (this will be in the far future). Alright a few questions!
This is the ground wire (I think) that runs to the negative terminal on the battery. Is it normal to have random wires hanging out like that? ![]() This black hose running from the valve cover had some kind of like liquid on it not thick but just like covering the outside not sure if thats normal. ![]() This red hose that is by the transmission dipstick and intake is an injen hose I guess and I think it might be leaking something (oil?) there was a little pool of oil or something on the top of some parts below it. ![]() And I am just looking to find out what the hell this part is that is mounted on the strut tower bar. The one that has a big bracket and holds two round things I am pretty sure this is not stock. ![]() Took of the ISC today and tested the connections and all of them tested at 30 and one tested at 29 so I am pretty sure from that video that it should be in good shape! I am absolutely stumped as to what the problem is now. No one can seem to tell me if there is a big 3 upgrade kit for these cars that someone has made through the DSMTuners forum. |

A big 3 is simple. You are literally making the 3 main power wires bigger than stock. The batt pos to alternator, batt neg to chassis and engine to chassis. You need to do a bit of reaserch as to if the alt is fused like he 3G, then buy about 7 ft of wire for the batt to alt, and 5 ft for the ground. Buy a good 2 input ground termination block, posative and negative terminals and the ring terminals necessary for the connections.
That ground needs replaced as it is frayed to hell. |

Could very well be the cause of some electrical issues especially if your having problems with the battery. As for the big 3 talk to Ken, he can make it for you or you can follow the one I did in my audio install thread

Oh, and congrats on the car, they are an absolute blast...no offense to the 3g community but I would never go back to a 3g after having my 2g, it's just way too much fun. Not sure if you know this as well, but that isn't the stock turbo on the car Last edited by Dyesuperman; 06/14/2012 at 10:50 AM. |

Wish I could have kept the 2G when I bought the 3G though. Unless one dies, just decide I don't like it (traded a WRX for the Evo) or really get challenged finances, I will likely keep my cars going forward....although, my wife may disagree

My car had a small oil leak problem took it up to some shop today because I have no time at all and they just said it was a few loose bolts so that is fixed
Had the ground wire changed from the negative terminal on the battery and hopefully it fixes the issue. It only rides rough when I am driving with my headlights on! If the headlights are off then it is perfectly okay. |

Update: Headlights still trigger the car to idle like crap and to drive bad. Now I have a decent sized oil leak too :/ Need to start figuring this stuff out!
My first mod I think is going to be a 1g TB w/ IAC and FIAV blockoff plate. |

Yeah man. Selling it for 5700 not sure if I sold it for too cheap :/ It is a really nice car and only problem is the headlights thing which is a cheap fix. No rust at all on the thing and the body is in amazing condition.

Car is officially sold! The guy is coming to get it today for $5,700 thank god! Get this dang car out of here. I guess I will be carless for a few days, time to find a GTO or stick with a cheap Eclipse for $3,500 or under.
