This Members Ride - RayRay 2001 GT
Going to create this here in case I ever decide to do anything else to my car. I bought it bone stock. Nothing cosmetic or performance done to it at all.
![]() ![]() Those are pics right after i took the stock headlights off and these on. These next two are months and months later, plasti-dip the stock rims and the louvers below the front blinkers. Also cut the CHEAP-o wire mesh to show the CHEAP-o foglights. ![]() UPDATED PICS: New Wheels, smoked turn signals. ![]() ![]() __________ New 10/6/12 ![]() ![]() ALSO: don't drink and drive =( ![]() K thanks, bye EDIT..... links broke???? inserting http://i.imgur.com/soVZZ.jpg with no clue why broke, must be imgur.com EDIT #2: someone should add to EDU: How-To Post Pictures and let everyone know to NOT use imgur.com =P- Last edited by ograyray; 10/07/2012 at 10:28 AM. |

3.0 Diamante
Crap.. that Diamante was the 3.0 v6 not the 3.5. Now im trying to search the difference if there is one and see if I've messed up. Hopefully its the exact same mani and everything will be ok.

Thank you for the info, if i post a pic of what i have will you look at it? If i recall when i pulled it off at the junk yard the throttle body was on the right side like the eclipse. I left the TB there though cuz it was locked up and frozen, looked like shiot too.

3.0 Diamante mani
![]() ![]() I know it doesn't show much but at this point I'm a little worried simply because every thread and post for this swap is about the 3.5 diamante v6 not the 3.0 |

It begins
Just started, it got dark quick. Took air intake hose and breather off first. 10mm wrench for the clamp near intake. Small tube in a nipple split off plenum and ran into breather hose. At the end near the filter was the electrick plug for the MAF box, had a blue circle.
Removed battery first, forgot about that. Extra room FTW. Got dark and i came in. Left this step here so i have info when the new intake is bolted on. Will dump pics if anyone wants - just let me know. |

Gaskets.
I'm going to start with this pic. Upon reading all the how to's and different threads about this this ONE GASKET was the only thing i didnt notice anyone mentioning.
Good thing autozone had the "upper intake manifold gasket kit" which included the gasket for this piece, i circled in red and drew an arrow to the manifold.

Finally got the intake on, got all the vaccuum lines too. Gotta find a way to secure the throttle cable to the back of the manifold though.
The gas pedal is stiff as hell. |

I think it has 10 less horsepower, gotta be something loose somewhere. I coulda swore that cutting the EGR out of the picture wouldn't mess anything up. /shrug |

found the lack of power issue. Stupid stock air breather hose huge hole in it. Need to replace with injen intake or something. For now just patched the hole and it has all the power it had and then some. not much extra but the sound is like night and day.

Update
Just an update. After i got the Diamante manifold on it felt off. Felt weaker. A week later or so the car started missing.
I was about to start testing the vacuum system but really didnt want to. I just sat there on a stool in front of the engine with the hood open staring at things. Eventually i looked underneath the manifold and saw the culprit. My buddy that helped get the back bolts off the manifold didnt tighten the rubber spark plug gloves. two of them were raised away from the valve cover about 2 inches o.O Quickly secured them into place and maaaaaaaaan i'm happy. The sound, the little extra power.. it finally feels the way i was expecting this mani swap to feel

Smoke turn signals
Just took a chance with these smoked signals. Cheap enough for me to not care if they end up looking like crap

Turn Signals
Just came in and out with the old in with the new. 5 minutes total, they shipped with hardware screws including new mounting brakets for the screws and 2 yellow bulbs since the stock ones are clear bulbs.

when you get a throttle body it will help more, now either gut your sotck manifolds or get some headers and you will pretty much be set.

I know right??!!! I finally got my boss to front me the money to get it done and as soon as he says GO the temp drops by at least 15 for 4 days in a row so far =(
To make myself feel better about it though, I am taking this frame of thought: ![]() defrost will work better... defrost will work better... defrost will work better.... |

The intake swap took me all weekend because I am crippled from a car wreck from 2003. It was more than painful and i had to get a friend to help me take out the bolts and brackets near the firewall. I'm sure an able bodied person can get it done in half a day though, its no biggie. |

Well there are at least 3 threads dedicated to doing it. I took bits of info in all three and combined everything together best I could. I'm sure the vacuum hoses can get fucked fairly easy if you dont remember/track/label things.... the first time i fired it up after everything was put back together the car redlined instantly. I knew it was the vacuum hoses and had to go look at all the pics i took as i took things apart.
Thinking about it now, the best thing anyone could do is get the EGR valve lined up and fitted FIRST, then put the intake in place..... wish i had done that. Oh and the ring spacing.... its inside the compressor... i dont know enough about it all to fix it. Nor do i have the ability to recharge my system, mechanic is doing it all. NEW WHEELS!!!
Club3G Forum : Mitsubishi Eclipse 3G Forums - View Profile: HEATHB4R
Thanks to HEATHB4R ( you rock man ) I'm going to have some new wheels. Don't have them on yet as it is Sunday and no one is open to wrap em. If anyone knows someone selling some 18's holler ![]() Anyway. 1100 mile round trip, with a SH*T TON of deer and only 3 cops. 4 3G's 2 Spyders and a 280z. Luckily I did not hit any deer, but I did brake check one. Took a few picks and will upload them in a sec. Got turned around a total of 2 times. On a side note: the last 45 minutes of Arkansas and the first 45 minutes of Missouri was hell on my ears.... altitudes crazy high then crazy low ![]() At least I had a cup holder for the ride back

Looking forward to seeing those wrapped and on your car! After talking with my dad about your oil leak, he suggested that you see if your PCV valve is clogged or needs replacing. He said it could mess up the oil pressure and COULD cause you to leak oil from the cap.
