Well I haven't been around in a while cause my wife is 6 months pregnant now. My update is that I think my head gasket on the rear head went up. My oil finally turn to tea. I need to have Greg look at it but I'm pretty sure thats it. If so the head will come off and then we will check the damage and go from there. I guess tax time couldn't have come any faster. If Greg isn't busy he'll have some work now!

yea it was weird because I got off the belt way and noticed the antifreeze smell once I hit the light. I didn't run it hard at all that day thats why I was confused. I kept on turning it on and then checking the oil and I noticed the other day it looked like starbuck coffee. Oh well shit happens.

Well I'm waiting to file taxes so I can drop of my car to Greg so he can check the damage. Hopefully the bottom end is still good. Worse case, I'll just have to buy the block Greg has for sell!

No, I've just have had some bad luck lately. I need to get back up and running, I'm tired of getting run down by Geo's in my 91 civic, 67 HP
I get run off the road on 97 cause the car will only do 70mph safely.

Randy, you know you are a 3G lover in the inside. Get a stand alone ECU and turn the boost up. Also, get some dyno numbers and stop talking about selling your sexy 3G.

How about drive your car Randy! Your car is running and it sits more then mine with a blown head gasket (in and out of the garage
) Chato you must have the 1.5 like mine, slow and it gets 30 miles to the gallon.

Well I got bored today and figured I would make a bootleg copy of my run at the track. My camcorder is not digital and my wife got a digital camera for christmas so I figured I would see how it turned out. So for the shaking, my wife taped and needs practice! The second video is against a mustang with intake, headers, exhaust, a GT 40 intake manifold and a Hypertech programmer. He jumped before the light even changed and didn't give me a chance to load my converter. He still would have beat me but it would have been a little closer.
14.2 run against a small block regal. - Video racing a mustang with a bunch of bolt-ons. He jumped before I even got a chance to load up my converter so I left with no boost built up. It would have been a little closer. - Video

Congrats on COTM Spuds, well deserved bro. How does that torque converter work out for you?? I love everything you did. I think a nice WW kit would finish her off nicely. Your car is basically like a black version of Jayhawk's car from a couple years ago

Yea I have to agree. I'm gonna do a carbon fiber hood next and depending what happens to my engine, it's either a rebuild or my SS kit will be installed. I've had the converter in for over 20,000 miles and I love it. It helps me build up boost from the stop and takes off pretty hard with some wheel spin in 1st. Thanks for eveyone comments!

Oh, I've been around. I just haven't done much to my car. That will change hopefully in the mid to later part of April.
By the way, what happen to the issues you had in January and February? I'd didn't see what repairs you did. Last edited by repforenzo; 06/12/2008 at 09:28 PM. |

just a little update. I've been working in DC, but now I'm back in baltimore so I started to tear the car down. I think I have just a head gasket problem. I'm gonna remove the lower intake manifold this weekend. Here a a couple pics I took before I taped the manifold. I guess the valves look ok. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well I got my rear hear off today. The heads have a lot of carbon build up on them. I'm not sure about the cylinder walls but they don't look bad. If nothing is wrong what can I do to clean up the piston tops and the valves, and the head? Any help? I sprayed some engine degreaser on a rag and just wiped a little bit off the head as you can see in the pic.

Alright both heads are off now and here comes the clean up. My wife and the kids came home early so I'm done for the night. I need to rotate the crank to clean up all the piston tops not to mention the heads cleaned up pretty good. I'm taking them to the machine shop tomorrow and having them checked out and probably milled. I'm also changing my motor mounts with my prothane mounts and I have to fix my oil pan leak. One of the bolts backed out right above where the oil line from the turbo is welded. I'm also gonna change all my fuel lines to stainless steel lines with AN fittings. The rubber lines are starting to leak a little and I don't want any problems there, not to mention one of the lines going to the secondary injectors sprung a leak a while back. Tomorrow it's off to the dealer to get the STOCK 3000GT VR4 head gaskets since I bought the Fel-pro from autozone. Here are some more pics:

You may want to spend the extra coin on VR-4 HeadGaskets (The part number is MD199239). They are really nice. See the thread Greg made: Let's talk about headgaskets.

Well the head gaskets are ordered and will be in Thursday and I dropped the heads off also. I took them to Marty's machine shop in Ferndale and said $110 to mil both heads and clean them up. I have other stuff I can do during the down time not to mention I can get to the rear mount pretty easy with the heads off.

If I had time I would of came in the Honda but it's hard when you work 40 hours a week, have a 16 week old baby, oh and trying to get my Mitsubishi back together to make some meets mitsuoama. I made it last year when I had my car running and only the 8 year old step child. She loved playing beer pong with everyone! I'll be at the next one.

Thanks, the baby is doing great! Maybe next time you can get her on your team! This just in I'm working 10 hours a day and 8 on saturday so my weekend for working on the car isn't looking the greatest right now. I should be able to get the heads on no problem.
