Update. I went to the track last night and for the first time I used slicks. My first run I did my personal best of 8.80 in the 1/8 mile still with a shitty 60ft. Here is a pic of the slip.

And here is the vid inside the car. YouTube - Chato's Turbo 3G Eclipse first time with slicks

After that, My clutch gave up, and now I'm looking for a better clutch.

Here are some pics of the new wheels I got. They are Greg Weld drag stars 15x8 0 offset. I'm going to use these with some M&H 24.5x8.5-15 drag slicks.

I'm leaning towards getting a Comp stage 4 or 5 clutch. I'm not 100% sure yet.

Finally, I ordered a Comp stage 5 4 puck clutch and a Fidanza steel friction insert replacement. I'll post pics when they get here.

Great job man. You put a lot a work on your 3G. I see it on base all the time. I would like to check it out when I get back from deployment. I'll be back in May. I'll get a hold of you then.

Well, I finally got the new clutch in, and all I can say is wow. This new Comp stage 5 clutch is great. The pedal feels like stock, and I can't wait to break it in so that I can see how hard it grabs. Here are some pics of the old one.

The tranny was filthy and it stunk like burned clutch.

The old flywheel friction plate looked pretty bad. Good thing I bought a replacement.

Here is the old ACT clutch.

yeah bro that kit is too ricer lookin. eclipse especially the 3g's look best with that clean oem/jdm look to them. all those blitz and aftermarket ricer lookin kits dont look good at all. a simple lip and some rims and headlights and taillights would look good. check out my eclipse bro and i like your headlights

Since my front bumper cracked, I have some new plans for the outside of the car but it is on hold for now. I'm not sure how the 3g eclipse can have a JDM look since it is not from Japan. Lol Thanks for the comment.

V8KILLER : who are you?
quick question? Is the stock oil pressure from the car good enough to feed the turbo at the same time or is another oil pump recommended so that the car itself and turbo gets the oil needed?

thanks guys!

Hey Chato I have a few questions for you; Where did you find the Stage 5 Clutch for the 6G72? Also I have had the weld wheels idea in my head for awhile now since we have the same lug pattern of a mustang, how good does the 0 offset sit with the body?

How old is your clutch? and how much have you abused it? If you are planning on drag racing with your car a lot and you have 300+whp, you should get a puck clutch instead of a disk clutch.

Yes I have been using a ACT 6 Puck for awhile but do not like it to much and it has been pretty abused. So I was looking into a new one.

I got my clutch from a member/vendor of this site. Importcarpartsp. He gave me a great deal too.
To tell u the truth, the wheels don't stick out much. I'll post pictures of the wheels with my slicks on the car when I get back from the sand box.

Im pretty abusive to it. I do plan on drag racing this spring and it's just shy of 300 right now. It should be over 300 once I get it dyno tuned.

How did you like the ACT 6 puck? How hard was the pedal compared to stock?

My ACT disk clutch lasted me 2 years of abuse. If you are ready to change your clutch I definitely recommend you to get the Comp stage 4 or 5 clutches. The Stage 5, which is the one I have, feels great. The pedal feels soft almost as it was a stock clutch, but the engagement is fucking amazing.

It sucks for daily driving only if you don't like the way it engages. It engages hard as hell, but that's what I was looking for. You can always slip it a little bit, but it is a little harder to slip it because it grabs like a mofo. BTW I love you and thank you for taking care of the cars.

lol @ "JDM" hahaha.

anyways man, just wanna say that after reading through all 8 pages, that is one sick build. props dude. good to see you took your time and did everything right. the install looks so clean, as does your ride; love the wheels and the lights, blitz kit ain't bad, it goes well with black. what were you gonna do about that crack though?

what times are you expecting to run in the 1/4 mile?

Thanks man! I have something planned for the outside of the car, but right now I'm more worried about finishing up the performance. My current set up, slicks, and a nice 60ft should put me in the 12's. I'll be shooting for low 11's when I get back to the states.

Good luck on the ride...not feeling the blitz but whatever you like, Blitz doesen't flow with the 3g body lines very well. Keep it up tho.

Thanks for the comments guys. I put the stock front bumper back on because I got sick of looking at my broken kit every day. I will post pics of the car when I finish the new 2009 look.

That is one hell of a car man! You really did a good job building that one. The new Weld Drag rims looks really tight too! How about posting some pics with the slick mounted.
