Gonna need more details on the conversion man. What rear end? What Gas tank? What mods to get the rear end in place? Custom driveshaft? Hows it drive? That exhaust must be really low run under the driveshaft. What rear suspension are you using?

The car is pretty sick. I have to say though, that graphic is SO tasteless it hurts me to look at it. You did all the right stuff, got the Stratus doors, molded the kit, and then you go and slap some corny sticker on the side? I just don't understand. I think your car would be GREATLY improved if you removed that thing. The chrome tails need to go too. Black would be MUCH nicer.

Just because of the fact that this is the first AWD 3G Eclipse, I will say that I do not mind the graphics at all. With such a labor-intensive modification as an AWD swap is, you are free to do just about anything you want. Ahaha, anyways, the car looks great, and awesome work with the AWD.

Great pics, Mike. Congrats on finishing out the exhaust. The duallies look great.
![]() The "graphic" works quite well with your theme, as do the chrome tails. Don't worry too much over the more outspoken members here and their preference for understated/subdued 3G's. They haven't seen the Bomber in person! ![]() Very nice show car/garage queen.

I have to say that shot of the rear is badass looking. Those duals look alot better than I thought. Very well done.

In AWD cars, there is a center diff that will distribute torque 40%f/60%r or however.... it works much like a LSD in the front or the rear... So if say you motor puts out 300ftlb torque, at full throttle 60% of that will transfer to the rear differential, 40% of that will transfer to the front differential... (arbitrarily) In an AWD car, you need the front and rear differential gear ratios to be exactly the same (atleast in a street car) or else you will burn up the transmission amongst other things.

Well one thing is for sure the Front Evo axles are bigger than the rear, which I would suspect that more power is delivered to the front than the rear. As for my setup the trany transfer case and rear diff are from the same doner car so all gearing is the same.

I admire the amount of effort and craftsmanship that went into this project 100%, however, I just don't understand the purpose of it on a 3G. Unless you're delivering some serious power to warrant AWD, it's pretty much pointless in my eyes.
Either way.. good work. |

![]() As the owner of a show-only 3G, surely you can understand his purpose. Mike now has the notoriety of being the first documented AWD 3G, a valuable thing at car shows. Not to mention, he's installed turbo in HIS showcar. (A very clean setup it is, as well.)He's likely got more "serious power" to his wheels than yours, and with two fewer cylinders! ![]() You're right, though. It seems a rather labor-intensive conversion to tackle... and it is some good work he's done. |

get some vidsup with it running on the street not on jack stands it would be great to actully hear it run on the street.I have to agree with 00tampabluegs that his car is alot better in respects to being AWD and how can you say its pointless when you spent 5g in your trunk some would say that was a waste as he is the first and a pioneer so far with the AWD 3G.

Read this over on .org.. I'm like everybody else.. I'd like to see some videos out on the street or track with some dyno numbers or something.
All in all tho' ... very impressive!! |

Yeah, his thread on the .org is actually my only bookmark to over there.
![]() We'll do better with the pics and video for next meet. The 14th caught most of us with little documenting equipment. (read: few cameras & dead batteries) I'm interested in some dyno numbers as well. I saw a sheet from before the conversion, but it'd be a great addition for the next show... an AWD dyno sheet!

It may even behoove Mike to have a couple of essentially stock 3Gs near his to compare the level/number of modifications he's done.Mini meet? Well, Greg's place is a quick drive south into Wheatridge. I'll bet the Red Beast and Blue Bomber would get along famously! Let's discuss this further in the Southwest Regional section, shall we? This thread is for our new friend to present his ride, not for meet planning.

the Gear ratios should be right from what i see, the trans, transfer case, and rear diff are all from the evoVIII so he shouldnt have any problems there
Im a 2g guy learning about 3g's on here because my girlfriend and another friend both have one, hence the name. Now i not only have to know about GSTs and GSXs, but also GSs and GTSs its going to get confusing soon im sure of it |
