I don't know if anyone knows this or everyone does, but I heard yesterday from one of the local custom shops that JL Audio products are going into Best Buy in a couple of months. JL is low on money and needs to make some. Moving into best buy usually means...shittier products...lower prices...rockford competition. Rockford used to be a great company 10 years ago until they moved into best buy...now jl is on the same track. So if you plan on purchasing JL audio "stuff", you can wait til it goes to best buy or what im doing...stay away from it cuz its not the best. Crossfire, Eclipse, Orion, are way ahead of JL and is where its at. Everyone knows the W7 and W6 are good products but they are overpriced and not the best.

Also, in a few months, car audio companys are going to have to start to tell the truth. Say you see an amp that says 2400 watts....do you think its pumping out 2400 watts? No probably 1200...but starting soon they will have to post the actual real output of the amp...so dont be fooled.

Along with amps, Subwoofers and speakers will also have to do the same thing. If the RMS on the box says 1200....its really around 350...but you will come to see they will have to post the real RMS value visable for everyone to see instead of fucking people over.

Hopefully this helps people out with their decisions in car audio. Jl is not a bad company but if they are going to best buy...put it along there with Rockford, pioneer, sony, kenwood, etc.

JL Audio is a good mobile audio company. The main problem with them is that their prices are a bit high compared to other manufacturer's components. With that said, just because their product is being sold at Best Buy doesn't mean they automatically suck. Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer, Kenwood and Alpine products can be bought nearly anywhere and they definitely do not suck. This is a good move by JL; it will definitely boost their sales. A lot of people are willing to buy JL components, but are refrained to because their products are only available at "specialty" stores.

Kicker is mostly under rated there amps.

My 240 says 240 RMS

on the bench it put out 300 RMS out of the box.
Very true. My KX650.4 has a certificate with 652 watts on it, and it pushes ~670 watts RMS when I got it tested at a local audio shop.

right on, my fosgate amp is rated at 500 watts bridged but actually makes 740. you can never doubt the fosgate.
I was looking at getting a pair of RF amps (a 4 channel one to power the interior speakers, and a power amp for my 2 subs) and a pair of RF dvc subs.
Do you have any experience with these? are they any good? I'm looking at the punch amps and subs, and the T1001 power amp. :p

I dont think just because JL is moving to Best Buy makes them suck (they are overpriced in my opinion)...and I wouldnt advocate any brand unless i have personally used it or installed it. Audio is all about preference, what may be good for one person's ears my not be good enuff for another. Whatever works for you then cool.

Never heard of "Crossfire" before Orion's suck IMO I had a box built for an orion and swapped it out with a jl 12w4 and the jl hit much harder. As for amps Precision Power makes about as good an amp as you could want and you can bet your ass when it says it makes xxx power that it will not only make that much but probably 2x that much or more.

The designers of Precision Power Amps actually left that company to design JL's line of amps, I have an older PPI amp collecting dust because I traded it in on a JL 450/4. Regulated power supply is definately a major plus on two very similar designs. If you are into hearing music as it was intended it is worth the money to get into JL, Rainbow, Arc, Morel, Alpine F1 and other premium lines.

just cause they will marketing some of their products a best buy doesnt mean they suck or that all their products will suck. RF makes a ton of shit thats bad ass, but best but doesnt carry it (ie: anything from their power series) if you want good car audio, then research your products and know that you get what you pay for. there are alot of companys that "overrate" their amps and subs, but not all of them. dont tell people that products will suck based on the company that will be selling them. instead, do some research and learn what your talking about b4 you dis any comp. i dont care for best buy myself because they sell mostly low end material, but so does everyone else. all audio manufacturers make good shit-and bad shit. everyone needs to keep that in mind when they plan to buy
