Blueridge Parkway to MTOD.
My Blue Ridge Parkway Adventure




I'm planning on driving the entire blue ridge parkway on the way down to MTOD. I will be leaving very early Tuesday morning and arriving sometime Wednesday evening. Figured I would make a thread in the off chance anyone would like to join me. This is my itinerary thus far (obviously not set in stone).

Tuesday

Virgina
  • MP 0: Breakfast, Gas, and Rest stop before the parkway
  • MP 5.8: Humpback Rocks (1 mile hike to summit)
  • MP 34.4 Wigwam Falls @ Yankee Horse Ridge (.2 mile hike)
  • MP 63.1 Otter lake Dam
  • MP 63.6 James River Visitor Center (to see footbridge over the river)
  • MP 115 (optional) Visitor Center bathroom break
  • MP 176.1 Mabry Mill for dinner
  • MP 189.9 Puckett Cabin

North Carolina
  • MP 216.9 State Line
  • MP 217.5 Cumberland Knob
  • MP 218.6 Fox Hunters Paradise Overlook (.2 mile trail)
  • MP 225 Bed & Breakfast I plan to stay at.

Wednesday
  • MP 229.7 Gas Stop off US-21
  • MP 232.5 -> 244.7 Detour
  • MP 316.3 Linville Falls (Duggers Creek Falls) (1 mile hike or so to falls)
  • MP 339.5 Crabtree Falls (.25 hike to falls)
  • MP 355.4 Mount Mitchelle (short drive to summit)
  • MP 361.1 Glassmine Falls (viewing platform)
  • MP 364 Craggy Gardens (Plan hike at Visit Center)
  • MP 408.6 Pisgah Inn (Lunch or Dinner depending on arrival time)
  • MP 412.2 Looking Glass Falls (detour off the parkway about 9 miles)
  • MP 422.4 Devil's Courthouse (.5 mile hike)
  • MP 430.7 Cowere Mountain Overlook
  • MP 451.2 Waterrock Knob (.6 hike to summit & last stop on Parkway)

After the parkway, turn right and follow 441-W about 30 miles in Gatlinburg. The entrance to the parkway is in Waynesboro, VA for anyone would like to meet me there. I don't really expect anyone to join me, but it should prove to be an adventure if anyone does.
