Mitsubishi Colt coming to North America

The Cfolt was recently redesigned, so we don't expect and dramtic changes compared to the model currently sold in Europe. The hatchback is offered in both three-door and five-door models, but it remains unclear whether both or just one variant will make it here.

In any case, we expect the US model to use a similar motor to the one offerined in Europe, albeit with a few changes. The car comes with a 1.5 Liter MIVEC four-cylinder that offers 104HP and 104 LB-FT of torque. The version for the American Market might gain some extra power to meet consumer expectations.

Also offered in Europe is hte Colt Ralliart, which is sportier vierson of the car, but with the same engine. Whether a more performance-oriented version with a more powerful motor might come stateside is a topic of much speculation.

We expect further details from Mitsubishi in the coming weeks and months.

I can't say I share your enthusiasm about this car, Kev. Can't figure out what I don't like about it, but something just doesn't look right. Definitely not as secsi of a car as the 3G.

In regards to the secsiness of it, in stock form it doesnt look like much, but lowered with some wide as wheels makes it look a lot better.

Reminds me of a Fit or Aveo, numbers seem low for Mivec and turbo though, I'll like it way better if they get it in the 150 range.

So to update this thread. I talked with my buddy at the Mitsu Testing Facility in Michigan and he told me that this car made the trip out to Normal for MOD '09. Pretty fast little car, as the RalliArt version has a turbo motor.

With that being said, he told me the Colt will not be coming to the US, and the press release was improperly written. A car will be coming to the US based upon the Colt platform, but it will be bigger and not sold under the Colt nameplate.

We shall see a 160hp 1.5L turbo car could be fun.

In case Ford Fiesta entering to the US Market will be successfull and these small cars will find it's buyers - then Mitsu and others will definatelly expand it's model lineup.
To my mind - COLT is ugly, especially 5 door. After it got Lancer face - it became not ballanced in design and sales dropped even in Europe.

well you are an odd one. It looks and sounds like a fiat 500 with a mitsu badge. thats it. fiat 500 you get with either a 1.4 or 1.6 (i dont remember) or with a turbo. similar performance. and almost identical in looks except for the lancer tailights. all in all this car sucks. by the way i saw a golf gti on its roof yesterday, they bring this im sure we would see the same here too....

true it would be. but in all honesty and you will agree, that chassis is not meant for hard cornering (not like ours is much better lol) so you could make it a monster ina straight line but i seriously think that would be the end of it. lol i better never bring a golf over to you i'd hate to see what you would do to that
