Mitsu's Take On the Dragon 2010 National Meet **Interest Thread**

With B2NX over and past us, I have talked with several people about the idea of having a National Meet down in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area in 2010. The weekend would be over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend and consist of a trip over to The Tail of the Dragon (Hwy 129), a drive on the Blue Ridge Skyway, drinking, cruising, hanging out and hiking (if interested). I was also planning on some type of car show or cookout in the Great Smokey Mountains.

My sister lives in Nashville so I could probably work something out for her to watch the twins. I couldn't take the GSX though, I'd worry about taking it on a 6+ hour trip.

I would most likely be down Kevin. It just all depends on alot of situations that will unravel as time goes by. I am very sad that i never really got to see inside the factory. Wish normal wasnt over really...

Kev, just so you know Jeremy and myself have been in talks about B2N11 still in Normal due to the increase in attendance this year compared to years past.

Thats fine if you guys want to still hold BTN, but keep in mind that I will be stealing several regulars for this event.

BTN had a great run but between the factory not working with us and just overall bland weekend, we need someplace that has more going on. The reason we come out to car meets is to look at cars, drive cars, eat, drink and socialize. What better place to do that then a place where there are tons of back roads to cruise down, places to cook out, sights to see, cool places to eat, sweet mini golf courses, indoor go karts and possibly a drag strip near by!

This meet isnt intended to take the place of BTN, it is intended to get more members involved in a national type meet from different areas of the country (FL, TN, VA, SC, NC, KY areas).

hey i live close to hickory nc and i would be deff down just hit me up closer to the time of the meet and ill work something out with work to let me off hell i may be able to get a cheap room in tn.. if someone needed it i work at a hotel in morganton nc. so i get pretty good discounts just make the room with my discount and u pay for it if u need it usally like 35 plus tax .. so not to bad for the long drivers. anyways i always wanted to defeat the tail of the dragon. i have a sliver 2000 gt and currently fixing her up i got big plans for her like the two tone paint and possibly ripp supercharger heads are coming sometime n the next year along with the diamante throttle body and intake manifold.

I know how you feel, and I agree. Back 2 Normal as part as a whole has been a great meet for 10 years! If you ask me anything that can make it through 10 Years is an accomplishment in its own, but as you and the others have seen the run with the factory is getting spread thin. It could be due to the recession or just that after 10 years they are just plan sick of us being there every year, not sure because our contact wouldn't fill me in as much as past years.

I'm not going to hold it against them, it was a great time and a great turn out. I was very happy and excited that everyone came up who did and did their part to make memories that will last with me and hopefully with you for years to come. Although if you feel the weekend was "bland" you maybe should have tried a bit more to add a little excitement. I was kind of saddened to hear that you and Tara were not going to be in the Poker Run, and I personally feel that was the life of the trip for me. But what do you do, I am not going to twist someone's arm to make them do something they don’t want.

As far as B2N, I would still like to keep something going..... It is a nice central location to get people to, the hotel is great (hope it still will be), and we have never been turned away from any of the places we have stopped to eat at (concerting the size of group we bring

). If anything I would like to keep it a friends meet to come out and hang out, just to see the ones we don't get to see but if only for once a year.

Out of all the GLR, and I am not trying be selfish, I believe I am only of the select few that drive everywhere! There isn't a state in the GLR I have not been to a meet to, or have not visited at least 2-4 times during the year. I'm not afraid to drive and GOD willing and the crick doesn't rise, I will be down at the Tail of the Dragon with you guys.....I just hope others from the GLR will feel as dedicated as others are when it comes to meeting up.

It's not like the regulars really cared about the factory anyways. Didn't bother me that we didn't take a tour this year...gave me more time to nap from the drinking the night before.

No one is splitting the group up! As far as the banners, Kevin and I both have one. They are not hard to make and are not that expensive, I believe we have a great group and we are one of the strongest in the club. I have never seen as many dedicated members that will drive 15 hrs to hang out with a bunch of strangers for the weekend......Deal is after that weekend, they are no longer strangers but close friends.

All of my bother and sisters I have meet over the years hold a special place in my heart and always will. That is what sucks about leaving B2N, the week after is hell cause I can't see the ones I have come to known.

Tara and I would be up for some type of Chicago meet later in the summer, maybe that can be a Normalish type replacement.

My thoughts are to either find a hotel in the pigeon forge/gatlinburg area or if we have enough people, get a cabin.

The area around there has great cabin rates and I have seen cabins that can hold up to 30 people (complete with hot tubes, pool tables, big screen tvs, arcade games, pools). Once I gauge the number of people interested I will have a better idea.

Well one would be a national meet and the other one would be just a meet. I guess it will really depend on what meet has more people attending.

I really don't see what the big deal is. Special K is wanting to have a "regular" meet in Gatlinburg , so if people want to come they should. If not go to B2N. That about sums it up because i know ive never been to B2N but maybe some people would like to see something different for a change.
