JoePauL : who are you?
yes, you are correct; it should be back to normal after the computer relearns your driving style, within a few drive cycles.

at least you don't have a manual transmission that when this happens and you're at idle it dies every single time
My simple fix for this: drive it for 20 minutes on a highway and let it sit and idle for another 10 minutes, typically fixes it.

You can get a battery saver which is pretty much a 9V battery with a diode and plugs into the cig lighter. Keeps the PCM memory alive when you pull the battery so long as you don't open a door or anything til the battery is reconnected.

You can build your own for a few dollars too. I would personally suggest making a version with a small 12v rechargeable battery like off the shelf for a power wheels or a power tool. That way you have the voltage and amperage to run interior lights should you need to open the door for something. Just make sure it's fused smaller than lighter socket but enough to run dome lights.
