Can a normal person get there hands on this engine? Of course with the money being out of the question. I read somewhere it's two 13b's put together with a custom crank. Could be wrong on the crank thing not too sure on that. Anyways this engine is sick. I'm sure everyone knows about this since it won lemans in 91. go to diy re .com and se what they say that guy who answered first is wrong i built 2 4-rotor engines and it isn't a block you're looking for it is 4 rotor housings the hard parts to find are the intake,exhaust, and the eccentric shaft(crank shaft)I had to make all those parts myself.But for 2132rwhp with dual t-71 turbos is well worth it. MAKE a custom car to handle the power,no skyline (lame) or any production car can withstand the torque.Happy building!

The most prominent 4-rotor engine from Mazda was used exclusively for various Mazda-built GT cars (including the 767 and 787B) in replacement of the older 13J. In 1991 this engine in a 787B became the first from outside the U.S. or Western Europe and the first (and so far only) car with a rotary engine to win outright the 24 hours of Le Mans race. It displaced 2622 cc and built 700 hp (522 kW) at 9000 rpm. The engine design originates as a single 13B with: an additional rotor and housing added at each end, continually variable geometry intakes, and an additional (third) spark plug. The R26B's rotor housing can be purchased at retail from Mazdaspeed, but no internal parts are available to the general public.

I still can't find the rotor housing for the 26b at mazdaspeed. So it's a 13b but with two rotor housing at each end. Not two 13bs like i thought. If anyone can find a price for the housing that would be nice. In some rx-7 forums someone building one of these was looking at 28,000 just for the engine. Nevermind everything else. Pretty rediculous. Wonder if the 20b can work with another rotor housing. Anyways this engine is baddass. For all those people who take shit about rotarys. They're a lot more reliable then i've been told.

Who told you? Rotory's sure can make hell of a lot of power but are disposable engines.

The rotary was banned in endurance races by the FIA, not for being too powerful, but for being too reliable! Because there are only 5 moving parts on that engine, its not going to spin a bearing, throw a rod, shatter a piston, or float a valve (doesn't have any), and even if it overheats, it will still run due to the casting and metals used in the rotor housing. the rotary is on Ward's greatest engines of all time list for a reason.

the funniest thing is that after the race, they teared down the engine to look at its internals. SUPRISED, the engine couldve last another 24 hours race. The engine actually redone after over 50 hours of test driving.
no piston engines from LeMans couldve been near this.

-I think it's funny piston guys call our motors "inferior", yet they have to make special rules to class our engine size.
