I wonder exactly how stable these cars are/feel at 250+ mph. Does anyone else think the "top speed" competition is a little retarded?
A decade or two ago, 200mph was a golden benchmark for cars like Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, and the Jaguar XJ220, but I think making cars that are capable of well over that mark is a little rediculous. Another 10 years from now, there will probably a car with a top speed over 300mph. And for what exactly? |

Actually the top spped race hasn't been raised much in many years as the Callaway Corvette "Sledgehammer" topped the 250mph mark (254.76mph) back in 1988. Over the last 15 years Ferrari, Lambo and many others have been happy to build cars that top out in the 180-190 range and I have always thought that top speed has been forgotten about until recently.
Owning a Viper myself, I am not a Corvette fan BTW but that Callaway car was awesome at 880hp in 1988 !!!
