Looks like i have the service engine light on, had it checked, o2 sensor, did a search for parts, i see about 3 o2 sensors, how do i know which one?

1. Rear. Upstream sensor (located before catalytic converter)
2. Down-stream sensor (located after catalytic converter)
3. Front. Upstream sensor (located before catalytic converter)

If you had it checked they should have told you which one it is bad. There's also 4 sensors if your car has pre-cats.

What was the code? Obviously it doesn't do you any good to get the codes checked if you can't even tell us the code. Get the code again and then repost it so we can help you.

Code I just had pulled is P0141 O2S Heater Ckt Malfunction 1/2. AAP sales guy said I should replace both upstream and downstream (that's 2), but above thread suggests there are 3 or 4.

Brand new to this Forum, so all assistance appreciated.

I'm getting a P0170 and P0171 code on mine. The dealer said it was both my bank 1 sensors. I haven't replaced them yet so I'm not sure.

Is the P0141 a code I'll be getting next if my sensors are bad??

Check for a vacuum leak and also look at your MAF to see if it's dirty. It may need a cleaning.

On the eclipse, yes.

Right = bank 1 = nearest to firewall
Left = bank 2 = nearest to radiator

Went to AAP and didn't realize how many choices of downstream O2 sensors there are. They listed a Denso OEM for $90, but not in stock and a 'universal' for $68, which I think means splicing wire which I'd rather avoid. I bough neither pending further input from you expert guys!

Lbriptide21 : who are you?
I guess there is a first time (post) for everything. I just researched and replaced my bank 1 sensor 1 and 2. My two codes were bank 1 sensor 2 heat failed and the dreaded warm up cat below threshold. Anywho both downstream sensors are the same for both banks, but the upstreams are two different part numbers. I used the borsh universal since autozone was out of oem plugs. The universal was actually easy to replace. No soldering required. You remove the sensor, measure out the old one, cut the new one same size. Strip the wire ends and you twist them into connectors then into this little plastic box it comes with it splices on your old connector which plugs into the port. Took about 15 minutes a piece to make. As for removal of bank 1 sensor 1. I used an o2 socket to a long extension. I removed it when the car was warm so the bung was expanded. As for bank 1 sensor 2, removed passenger wheel, left the black plastic on, sprayed with pb blaster and used another longer extension so my ratchet was in the wheel well. Used my knee to apply addition torque (had no breaker bar) and removed it. This cleared both my codes. 20 mi later no codes, and I have smog this weekend.
