Exclamation brake and battery light on

2004 Eclipse GS Manual 2.4l sohc
60000 miles

Problem: My battery & brake light both turned on and i just got a new battery and didn't fix it i don't think the brakes are messed up since they are not making the squeaky sound. I noticed that while driving when accelerating it starts to flicker the higher the speed the more it flickers if i accelerate so can anyone help,

Check the negative on the battery, mine was loose, and if i hit a bump or accelerated my lights would dim and the battery light+ebrake light would come on.

If all your connections are tight, have your alternator checked out. When that light comes on it's indicating it's either not charging or it's overcharging.

Your alternator I'd probably shot. I had to replace mine bit even a month ago.

Check connections, if those are good, then it's the alt.

Do you have a voltmeter?

Not sure to be honest. It may be the way the car is programed to alert you? Someone will chime in with the real reason.

After you check the connections, get advance to do a load test, and that'll give you your answer right there.

Well, to fix this problem had to get a new alternator and new brakes. Also the reason why my car wasn't sucking up the battery was because the alternator was throwing more volts than necessary. Problem solved..

I'm having the same problem, I've had the car for a year and they've been on ever since. I figured if it was the alternator it would have gone bad by now... any other sugguestions other than checking connections and volts to alt. ?

Take your vehicle to Autozone and have them test your alternator and battery.

I had this issue once and it wasn't related to my battery, alternator, or battery cable. I was pulling my hair out trying to nail it down. Eventually I got codes for my cam and crank position sensors as well. The culprit? The ground that goes between the plenum and the firewall.

I had run a new one to replace the brittle and broken one during my plugs/wires/gaskets replacement and hadn't torqued it down enough. It came undone. I had also used a higher gauge wire because it was all I had at the time.

The fix? I torqued down the bolts for the ground. Then I ran another ground from near where the O2 sensors connect on the driver-side front plenum straight to the negative terminal on the battery. It was good after that.

Giving this thread a bump.. I've had a similar issue multiple times in the past year. I've gone through 4 alternators, all with the same issue.. the voltage regulators keep getting fried. I've taken them out and had the parts store test them on the bench and they all put out charge, but the voltage regulators basically go bad and fry the battery (too high of voltage). I took it into a shop and specifically asked them to check for wiring issues since it was, at the time, the third or so alternator I had burned through and they said they didn't see any issues that would cause this to keep happening. Of course it happened again. I installed a new alt maybe 2 weeks ago and already I'm seeing the brake/battery light flickering on from time to time so I know what's coming soon enough.

Hopefully someone here has some insight where I can check under the hood for issues that might cause this problem. Here's hoping!
