rbrothers01 : who are you?
starting my build

okay well after having a 1997 eclipse GST and then getting an 2001 gs its sparked my interest in boosting my 3g, now i have some experience with turbos but i will admit iv never done a full kit to a non factory turbo car, and im kind of on a budget. But i found a kit on ebay for around 1000$ and it seems to be everything im gonna need, im only gonna run low boost on it 5-7 psi and it seems that its a pretty simple kit, so im gonna need some support on this and im sure im gonna have some questions on this but i need some opinions on this kit from you guys

Mighty Max Dodge RAM 50 Eclipse DSM 3G 4G64 2.4L SOHC T04E T3 T3/T4 Turbo Kit T3 | eBay

so just give any input you want, i have plenty of time for this build and im sure its not gonna be a simple one so like i said just let me know what you think thanks !

The parts are cheaply manufactured out of cheap materials with low production standards and serious cases of corner cutting. A turbo is a turbo, it will work for a moment so all the hard headed people who slap cheap crap on come back and say "see it works fine". But the don't come back 5 months later to say the engine siezed, the turbo broke, etc, etc. Plus it's never a complete kit and you always have to modify the stuff to make it only work at best.

Your money is better spent on a Evo 16g setup that fits perfectly and is built to last.

okay thanks that clears some of it up so it seems that im gonna have to buy it all in different parts at a time, so could someone give me a decent run down of the best to go with ? i had a full greddy frontmount kit with a type rs bov injen intake small 16g on my gst , im guessing thats gonna be a good set up to go with on my 3g correct

There is a lot of different ways to run a decent setup. Check out the forced induction section. All the info is there. Read up...

rbrothers01 : who are you?
so im not sure of how many of you car but iv done some research and i guess if you get a knock off turbo and you run very low boost and easy driving and watching it closely for a few weeks it basically breaks it in and you can add boost and it will do just fine ? does this sound reasonable to anyone ?

Don't be cheap and get a knock off turbo and risk blowing your engine. A real EVO 8 16G with a 9.8 hotside can be found in good condition for under $300 easily on EVOM.

Just save up for a bit and get the real deal. That's my recommendation to you but in the end it's up to you.

This isn't a very good approach to take when turbocharging a non-turbo vehicle, and I can't think of a scenario when it is a good approach to take; as you could have taken your time and bought something that will work flawlessly and NOT destroy your engine the first time around. Now you'll have to redo your setup or at the least change your turbo if and when your turbo shows these signs of trouble you speak of.

I'm not trying to discourage you and I wish you the best of luck, but you really should get some opinions and listen to people when they tell you that 90% of eBay parts are junk and 100% of eBay kits are about as useful as a candle in sunlight.
