Tearstone. The only good kit that was available for the car. You need a custom downpipe, there are no bolt on solutions that don't require modifications.

Didn't Tearstone make a T3/T4 type turbocharger kit for the 4 cylinders if I can remember correctly?

The only turbo kits out there for our 4 bangers are the ones ebay creates. So that is the only kit he would be able to get, no ones makes kits for our cars.

There are plenty of good legit kits out there for older model cars. It's just our platform, the 3rd generation eclipse, doesn't have much to work with since there aren't much aftermarket parts out there for us. No one has ever really tried to make a worth while kit for us 4 bangers except for Tearstone and that was a while back.

That and there is really no need since the entire Evo 8/9's entire 16g setup bulge up perfectly to our car and is extremely affordable. The problem is people don't want to take the time to piece a kit together they just want to buy it and slap it on and drive it around. Look at how many recent builds are done in 1 weekend and after a month are haveing issues.

Honestly look through the 16g Evo turbo builds, they tell you every part you'll need and how to install it. They're a little more than an eBay kit but over time cost 1000's less in repairs.

Exactly Drew. It is sad that people are lazy even though they are enthusiastic about being boosted but they won't do research as to what works and what won't work well. A build with Evo 8 turbocharger parts is a fantastic deal if you think about it. For the cost of $1,500 for your entire build with all gauges and everything including a tune you can get amazing results for these real legit parts. If you ask me getting 350whp with stock internals from a turbo build that will last you a lifetime for just only $1,500 is awesome.

So Keller2012, just piece together an Evo 8 turbo set up and call it a day. You will be more than happy choosing to do that instead of buying a fake non-real kit for our cars.

If you would have just read this short little thread you would know, THERE IS NO KIT.

This is the problem, nobody reads. They want to jump in and have someone grab their hand and just do all the research for them.

Why get a cheap intercooler and universal cheap pipes with cheap couplers when you can get OEM Evo 8 FMIC and IC pipes for under 200

Oil lines for the 16g and water lines are not universal. For oil you'll want 36" at a minimum and it must be a m12x1.25 banjo bolt, water lines must be m14x1.5 banjo bolts. Otherwise it will flood the turbo and cause leaks. Even with the oil feed banjo you still might need a restrictor.

Please do yourself a favor and just look through mine or Masta560's or Yahh's or Voodoo's or Bostonhatcher's build threads. Don't just spend money. Make informed, educated purchases. The first 3 threads have every part we used. Voodoos and Boston's are a little advanced but show what can be done if you are smart about it.

I got all my lines from eBay, but individually. You need to search for the items specifically, like;

M12x1.25 banjo oil feed line

10AN 16g oil return line

M14x1.5 banjo style water line

Etc

Those were the days. Don't forget Balla, and I think he is around still.

Nobody is willing to spend the proper amount of cash on this car to do it the right way like the guys of the old days. This platform has been over ran by teenagers who think they can turbocharge a car for $750 and don't understand what they're getting themselves into.

There should be a sticky where all of the most successfully built 3g's are show cased for the newer members.

There should be a sticky where all of the most successfully built 3g's are show cased for the newer members.
Good idea on the sticky. I might take the time to do that. And as far as spending time and money on doing it properly I feel that too. I'm a year into the process, have all the parts and am still reading and waiting for the right time to install it. If you go at it piece by piece over a years time the 2000+ in parts isn't too bad. The problem is these kids want it all, right now and installed and running within a week.
