Help from you Boosted SOHC peeps

Ok i have bought the kia dohc head already..

The question I have is I just want about 300-350 whp out of my engine just for DD and a little fun could I get that from just rebuilding the engine and keeping the sohc with a evo 8 turbo?

I know I will need supporting mods such as fuel, tune, stuff like that because anymore power for a DD would be useless unless awd or driving on slicks...

I just want you input thanks..

For DD just leave it SOHC but note that theres a chance you'll lose a/c. It depends on your budget

Don't the stock SOHC take boost better
than the DOHC kia heads though?
obviously the evo head is built for psi,
but i could swear i remember that stock
heads are better unless you build internals too.

i dont know how it would be better or worse? The Kia/Hyundai head actually have a bigger combustion chamber than the Evo's. over on evom there have been a few guys who actually went and built a Hyundai head with stock evo internals. I did the DOHC swap since my timing belt jumped timing on me. i have evo8 valves, springs, retainers. with the Hyundai Cams since iwas not turbo'd at the time. just recently i turbo'd and ran the Hyundai cams for the first 1k miles and they worked just fine. since then i have swapped over to the evo8 OEM cams.

I love my DOHC. Haven't regretted anything. I was sick of breaking intake manifolds with the foolish TB flange. The DOHC runs great, and the parts are cheap. I landed a set of BC 272's on evom for 150 bucks... Seriously. My RPW cam goes for 600 for my SOHC, and you still are stuck with a smaller head and a shit manifold.

Oh? Someone once gave me a part number for the rod and piston kit for the swap but when I took it to the machine shop, they said it wouldn't work. I'm sure I got the wrong part. Which are you talking about?

And people are right, according to what I've read (as I've only had experience with SOHC and a build SOHC) is Kia > Stock > EVO as far as flow.

I wish there were better intake manifold options for the SOHC, I've already cracked two

Well the rods are the same regardless, and I'm using JE pistons I bought off an egay vendor. 86.5mm was .020 over I believe.
