Customized TYC's

Well as stated in my FS Thread, here are my new TYC customized integrated reverse lights. These are a definate one of a kind, and only one was made in production as a prototype. Recognition for these special TYC's goes to HIJACKER of SC-CUSTOMS. The time and quality spent on these are flawless. And bright! Unfortunately it's raining outside so I couldn't spend all the time to get really nice pics, but I have some to at least show you all how they look. Let me know what you all think. And nevermind the mess in the garage since we are moving very soon.

I think these add an extremely new look to the back of the car and make a huge difference. I'm glad you took interest and decided to give these and shot and install them, truely means a lot.

Regardless, the new look and the car looks fantastic!! Great work!

Most likely, no. There is a fair amount of modification that is required to the body panel behind the taillights and re-routing some wires. I honestly don't feel comfortable putting something in production which requires someone to do that much work to install something. These were sold to Jeff as one off proto I made back in March with the understanding of the amount of fabrication involved to install them.

Additionally, these lights would be priced in the range of $180-200/set for me to make a return on the parts involved, shipping, and some profit margin. If someone has STRONG interest in doing this mod, I "may" be willing to make a couple sets only on a per order basis. Email me at sales@sc-customs.com and we'll discuss offline.

Those do look really good, and quite unique. I always wondered if someone would/could integrate some kind of lighting effect in that spare lens. I'd even be interested in just an extra tail light in that area. Or even a reverse cam like the lexus' cars(wonder how that would look). Hijacker outdid this unique idea once again.

The most common place a reverse cam would be placed on this car while remaining discreet is removing the keyhole assembly for the trunk and placing a cam right there (passenger side light).

im not sure about the useless original reverse lights?

in NY we are required a red rear reflector just to pass inspection.

Unfortunately no they don't. Steve incorporated a special light design set-up (not sure what) inside. Because of the new light fixture, the car has to be cut to fit. Like a 3" circle roughly. Tin snips worked the best for me since I have no power in the garage. Once that was accomplished, you then take the wires from the original reverse lamp, route it to the connection provided on the back of the TYC, either tapped in or quick connect style, and TADA!

I dont know if we have to have rear reflectors to pass inspection, but if we get pulled over and do not have red rear reflectors, that is a ticket in the state of Ohio.

I think the new lights look awesome. You might want to find a couple of red reflectors you can stick on temporarily, however, if you have to pass a vehicle inspection in your state.

That right there is exactly why I never mass produced these. Given I could not get them to be DOT approved, I sold Jeff the one off prototype's.

That looks really good. I've always wondered what those red lights were in the stock reverse lights were. I saw that there was a bulb in the but it never came on with anything I tried.

Are you talking about the rear side markers? What you said is very confusing

Thanks. I'm hoping that you're recognizing that the taillights themselves have been modified. In regards to your side markers, have you actually tried replacing the bulbs? There really isn't a reason why they shouldn't work, especially both of them.

Thanks for NOT flaming me. Jesus, it's like hijacker hates me, when all I do is complement his work. And yes, I know that your tails are modded to be the reverse lights, I just saw that your side markers were on, that's why I mentioned it.

Thanks for the tip. After inspecting them, the insides of the bulbs looked blackish-burnt, so I tossed them and I'm gonna get some new ones. I don't know why I wouldn't have thought of that.

So what exactly is going on with the original reverse lights now? Are they just void of any function?

These were sold to Jeff as one off proto I made back in March with the understanding of the amount of fabrication involved to install them.

Additionally, these lights would be priced in the range of $180-200/set for me to make a return on the parts involved, shipping, and some profit margin. If someone has STRONG interest in doing this mod, I "may" be willing to make a couple sets only on a per order basis. Email me at sales@sc-customs.com and we'll discuss offline.
would you be willing to make a set fo 275 including shipping

Thanks for bumping this.
Sorry for getting back so late on this for ya.

You are correct. The original reverse like have been blacked out by me while re-routing the reverse light wires into the TYC connectors provided. Side markers are still functionable except for the stock reverse.

Try 0%. They're completely black and no longer reverse lights - did you notice that the reverse lights are now relocated to the custom taillight? In fact, did you even read the first few posts and look at the photos before you bumped this thread 3 years later for a useless question?

HIJACKER - did you retrofit a preassembled reflector? Or did you / SC build one??

It started as a set of black TYC's. From there, they were disassembled, retrofitted, and rewired.

Right a more direct question would have been; are those reflectors produced and sold to the public?

By reverse lights, I think the n00bert meant the original reverse lights. Not the new one's built into the TYC's.

Actually labor hours - about 3. Total hours from start to finish for curing, drying, waiting, etc.. about a week.

The key to everything is patience and planning. That applies to car modifications and also to anything else in life in general. When someone understands that, they win. If they don't understand that concept, they will lose.
