Eclipse1978 needs to be reminded to breathe.
Question Oil light blinks after oil change

hey all, I just had my oil changed and now the light keeps flickering when I stop, (it started the day before I changed it)
I know some of the newer models of cars you have to "clear" the "it's time to change your oil" dummy light..
could this be what is going on or is it something worse?
if it is the sensor needs to be cleared does anyone know the "code" or what has to be done to clear it?
it is an '07 Eclipse with the 2.4 Auto trans.

Who changed the oil? Have you actually checked the level yourself?

Hopefully someone knows how much oil you should be putting back in.... but the first question is definitely how much did you put in, and as the poster above says... have you checked the level? (on the flat with it drained to the bottom).

Assuming the sensor isn't broken, and you are not losing all (too low), then you seeing the light at all is very very bad. On Nissans (what I'm used to) the 'low pressure' signal is set wayyyyyy too low (to late by that point, so engine is already like screwed by the time you see it).

I did this oil change, so yes I have checked the oil levels..
Yes I put the correct amount in,
Yes I changed the filter,
Yes I put the correct weight in.. '
Yes I am a woman but I have been working on cars since I was 10!
my last Eclipse threw the timing belt and I am the one that fix it..
so an oil change no big!

before this one it had been done at the dealer, I had an 18 month warranty with it and it included oil changes..
but now it is no longer on warranty, I am doing most of my own work..
that was why I was asking if there was a sensor that needed cleared, the dealer would know to reset it..
and when I asked them they wanted me to bring it in they could not "tell" me over the phone..
had to do a service call at $100 an hour.. Min. one hour!!

I had the same problem for some time. Replaced the oil sending unit (oil pressure switch) Problem solved.

That's the kind of detail that's needed in your original post so we don't assume that you don't know anything and have to ask you obvious (to you) questions that are not obvious to us.

A nice cheap fix. Hopefully it is this.
