Anybody into Fish Keeping

Anyone else on here into fish keeping? Whether that be Coldwater/Tropical or Saltwater.

I have 4 tanks setup right now, I'll add pictures in a bit if anybody is interested.

a 55G which is my main tank, a semi-aggressive to community tank medium planted.

a 15G for the GF's betta

a 10G for Red Cherry Shrimp

and a 20G for two decently sized goldfish...I need to put them in a bigger tank.

Curious if you have any plans to get into the hobby, maybe setup a Koi pond or have any tanks/ponds setup yourself already.

When I was younger I went into someone's backyard and caught a koi out of his pond. He had a camera and asked me about it. I then put it into a local stream.

This hobby intrigues me. Someday when I'm settled I would like to get a tank, it's a lot more work than most people think.

The manager at a local hardware store I worked at for a long time brought in a tank last year and I helped him set it up and get everything acclimated. We kept having issues with the fish itching their eyes on rocks. I'd never seen that before.

Hope it wasn't any of those really expensive ones. Koi can run from $1,000-$15,000 for nice ones.

Yeah, there's a lot more to it than people think. But with a couple weeks of research and asking questions most people are good to go.

and damn that sucks I've seen that happen when people setup cichlid tanks. Could me ich, or bad water too high nitrates, ammonia anything really.

Ive always wanted a well maintained community, but as you all said it is a timley hobby. I used to have a big tank, about 4ftx2ft. At the time I had a green iguana, which was awesome. Been thinking about purchasing a red iguana from a local pet store. They had one that they were holding which was about 3ft long and also a juvenile one for sale. Really awesome to see.

I've been into saltwater reef tanks for a while now. My last tank was a 125g. Current tank is a 34g Red Sea Max. I'm in the (long) process of setting up a giant 350g tank in our dining room. Eight feet long by 30" tall by 28" front-to-back. It's a full-time hobby, and you have to enjoy spending time doing it or it becomes a chore.
