If you added reflectors into the bumper (kinda like the new corolla) wouldn't it be fine?

maybe, though last time i read the fmvss sheet on it(i believe it's fmvss 108?), i believe it said the reflector needed to be integral to the rear brake lamp assembly.. but all lighting assemblies are passed/failed as a complete unit, so adding it later is still considered illegal, though it might skate past a few cops like hid's in halogen projectors...

This threads needs a little updating with the new lights out. If you know of any new Headlights, tail lamps, or any new designs that are out that aren't on the original post, give me links so I can add them in. Try and classify if they are a certain make. (aka anzos, sonars, ect..)

I'm trying to go with the projector with halo daytime lights labeled as "sonars" on the first page. Anyone know which name they go by nowadays and/or a reputable company that I can order the pair from? I've had bad experience with ebay and would be open to suggested dealers.

The original post is quite old. There seem to be many other players in the aftermarket headlight world now. What about these?
SpyderŽ - Black Halo Projector Headlights
Spec-DŽ - Black Halo Projector Headlights

and especially these
SpyderŽ - Smoke Halo Projector Headlights
I have a completely stock 2003 Spyder painted Dover pearl white and I think the smoke would really be a great accent

You didn't post links, but headlights are still the same. Most "ebay brands" have their own name like Spyder, or Spec D, but it's usually still using a Sonar design, or Anzo design housing.

Alot of those ebay brands have added many LED's and CCFL halos to the housing as well. But again, the houses are practically the same.

Fo0tSoLdieR : who are you?
I'm looking to make a buy on new heads, tails and corners this month.. After reading the original post and skimming through most of this thread, I went and looked at carid.com where they had the anzo tails someone posted about above... Anzo Tails I like the look and will probably go with these unless I see something better.

My issue now is I'm looking at the headlights on there and the 1st one, which is by spyderThe Spyder Headlights, looks like something i wouldn't mind buying but... I'm still a lil confused on what exactly to look for. As chad said before projection low beam with reflective housing for the highs.... so does this have that?

Is there a better site to shop for this kinda thing? I'm pretty much just looking for black sonars, black tails, and some clear/black corners....

Those new Anzo tail lights look very close to TYC's old design. They look decent

The HL's you just posted are a sonar design. So yea, not bad. Not the best, but not bad.

The anzos are good tails. Buy off ebay, save some money if that's your thing. What are you confused about for the lights? Could always go for something custom too.

Yea, the ones on ebay are cheaper. Think I saw a set for around 60 before shipping. Been thinking of buying those and selling the TYC's myself.

Those are some sonars. Not bad. I wouldn't get 8k HIDs though. Go no higher than 6K.

It's self defeating. Higher the number, the less visible light there is. 8000 is actually less light than 6000. I dont go higher than 5000 with my HID's.

4300K is what you really want. I don't go above 5000K either. But since you ask, here.

I bought the 8K angel/eagle chrome no tint for my old car and love them. So much light I never seen. Good looking and light up the night. I may have the cutoff a bit high but the cops never stop me and no one flashes their brights at me. I am ready to pull the trigger on maybe the black version for my spyder.

8K is less light, just more color.

Sonars

I bought a pair of Sonars with HID kits a couple weeks ago. Black housings with CCFL halos on the projectors. Model
444-ME00-CCFL-BK+HID-ON-4KH1-DC-SLIM

They look great on the vehicle - the projectors throw a great beam. As expected had to adjust the wheel to get them at the correct height. The issue that I am having is with the brights. The passengers side bright throws a beam that goes up and down and does not light up much of the road or next to the road but it lights up the branches above the road real well. The driver's side bright shines down on the pavement about 20 feet in front of the vehicle - once again not helping to see where I am driving. Any suggestions? Right now I am planning on returning them and trying a different brand

Thanks

Make sure your bulbs are mounted correctly.
Yeah I did Chad - I even took out both bulbs and swapped them into the opposite sides- I thought that maybe there was an issue with the bulbs themselves but the light output stayed the same.

any thoughts ? Should I have them send me new ones or should I get my money back and try a different brand?

Thanks for the help - the fixtures look great on the car - the projectors work well - its just the brights, I'll never need them https://www.club3g.com/forum/images/s...L6aiHcjVkG.gif

I personally wouldn't use HID's in the brights. Try regular halogens.

The brights are kind of a joke on those headlights... I think they are just for looks / pass inspection

Not sure why lol they look great. I bought mine from Joey the vendor here.
Why would you need brights when IMHO the hid/projectors do pretty well as-is

What I meant was, they won't be as bright as the hid.
I just checked mine. They don't have a bad pattern, just no where near as bright if that helps

I drive many country roads through deer country - I prefer to have my brights to have a very wide side to side pattern. The thought of hitting Bambi at high speed in a low car with a soft top scares the crap out of me.

That's why you should consider a retrofit, I sell parts if you wanted to DIY, but also do the work for 3g'ers.

I've been looking for a smoked or black housed third brake light. I know I could just nite shade mine but I wanted to get one that could never fade or crack or anything like that. I found clear ones on ebay but can't find smoked.

Yes sir. You claimed that depos are the best I just wanted to know if these specific type of depos are ok considering they have a little bit of chrome in them and you said chrome causes glare.

Glare are caused by full chrome headlamps.

When the entire assembly is chrome, glare is bad. In this case, you'll be fine with those depos. Just a heads up though, they won't be the same ones in the image. In fact, the chrome won't be there.

How good are smoked headers at night? My current stockers need replacing and smoked lights fit the theme I want to create with the car but I don't want them if they are just as bad or worse than my current lights

generally smoked anything is less than legal. Why risk your own vision?

Maxzone has the same model number as the Depo projectors - would they be the same headlight just under a different manufacturer?

If you want quality, retrofitting is your best option. It also allows you to do whatever-the-hell you like.

Stephan : who are you?
Headlights and front indicators

Hello from Germany,
I'm looking for my 3G Spyder new headlights.
The previous owner has dual halo with LED installed but
I do not like this cheap look.
Are there dual halo headlamps without LED and / or angel eyes.
I've already searched ebay us and elsewhere but no
found that I liked.
The interior should be black, not chrome.
Maybe someone knows where I can buy black / gray front indicators.
I hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance and nice greetings,
Stephan
