xenon lights question hid

Okay, so I read a pretty extensive thread on here about xenon lights breaking them down and such. However, the question I have wasnt fully answered; can I buy just a pair of xenon lights and put them on my car? I don't believe my headlights are an HID kit or plug and play or whatever. Basically...
